Is this meant to be some sort of attempt at a clumsy metaphor? I've seen the other posts, of course, and I'm not entirely ignorant of the fact that this is a curse, but it's an idiotic one.

[He shoves the offending item into his pocket and shakes his head.]

I can't, for the life of me, imagine what it's supposed to mean.

The symbolism -- or attempt at symbolism -- is obvious, yes, but the purpose behind it is unclear.
