[ All that can be seen as the feed begins is the raging winter sky—courtesy of today’s blizzard. Quite obviously the video option has been activated upon being dropped but any auditory indication of who the device belongs to will be overshadowed by the fierce wind howling in the background and the thickness of the snow it is lying in. However, after a moment or so of this the image flickers and is panned upwards as the communicator is lifted, albeit shakily, and a face comes into view, blurred and barely distinguishable behind the snow and moisture on the lens.

The face coughs, a trickle of blood running down from the corner of its mouth before a shaking, semi frozen hand reaches up to wipe it away. Then—whether it’s Katou’s choice or as accidental as the initial recording—the video feed is terminated. ]

Okay, before I lose my fuckin’ mind—

[ Screw the fact that you’re squeezing him to bits, he thrusts your arms off him with an impressive amount of force and turns around, grabbing the front of your shirt. He’s getting to the bottom of this and he’s getting to the bottom of this NOW. ] What the fuck d’you mean, the place you stay here? Where the fuck is this? I was just with you, brat, then I fuckin’ blink and now all of a sudden y’fuckin’ settled down in some goddamn snow globe and dragged me the hell with ya!?

Katou, don't overexert yourself. It's probably best we have this conversation back at the apartment.

[Setsuna was a little surprised by the suddenness, but he doesn't do anything to stop Katou once he's got him. He remains so very calm, almost disturbingly patient, but it's how he usually deals with Katou, when he's not crying about something.]

But we're in the City. Everything else you might wanna ask is gonna get complicated. For example, I wasn't just with you. I've been here since March of last year. And even then, when I came, I wasn't just with you, either.

Don’t you tell me to overexert my—!

[ Okay, he’s stunned. His fingers linger on your clothes but he has long since forgotten they’re there, eyes widening as you fill him in on something he will take a long time believing … and even longer understanding. ]

But … you were—we were—you were just—you—! Damn it, Mudou! [ He pushes you off, hand going to his head to comb roughly through his frozen hair. Somehow, whenever he’s with you, it’s always trouble. He sighs, muttering into the wind. As if things weren’t already complicated enough. ] Gimme a break, man.

I'm trying. [Setsuna just goes right back to Katou's side to help prop him up and get walking again.] But you gotta let me help you.

Again, the conversation will go over better when we get to the apartment. Especially when you meet Alexiel.

Alexiel …? Ain’t that chick … like, you or whatever? And fuck it, Mudou, will y’quit your goddamn fussing!

[ He slaps your hand away and then storms forward through the snow, feeling belittled. He can walk just fine on his own, ty! ]

Yeah, she is. But she's no-

[He sighs, and rolls his eyes, stuffing his hands back in jacket pockets.]

Do you even know where you're going? And next time you walk into a wall, maybe I'll just laugh.

Just lead the fuckin’ way and shut up.

[ He gives you a rough shove forward, blows air into his cupped hands and then wraps his arms tightly around himself to fend off the cold. Damn it, he’s freezing! ]

You gonna be okay?

[As if Setsuna could ever shut up. Oh, right. That's been an issue of lately.]

[He turns to hand Katou a pair of gloves.] Don't got any other jackets, and you have one anyway. Whatever good it's gonna do you in this weather. These might help, though.

Yeah yeah yeah ...

[ Katou appreciates the gloves, thrusting his human hand into one of them and then blowing through the material to warm it up. While a jacket would probably have been rather useless, some clothes UNDER it would have been welcome as he’s completely bare. Stupid day to go out shirtless, obviously. There is still something weighing heavily on his mind though. He frowns, stuffing the remaining left glove into his jacket pocket. ]

Listen, uh ... were you ... y’know, missin’ anything when you got here? Assumin’ y’came here the same cheap ass way I did.

Mmm, no. Why?

[Setsuna doesn't think much of the question, just finds it odd. Thankfully, they're not far from the apartment. Just a bit longer.]

Nah, no reason.

[ He tries his best not to look pained but—as always with Katou—it’s written all over his face. He could have sworn he had had Kira’s sword on him just before his arrival to the City but … everything had happened so fast. The pained expression is slowly melting into one of guilt, one he tries to shake off by changing the subject. ]

So who else’s here?

[Setsuna doesn't buy it, but he also knows there's not much reason to pester about it. Katou isn't likely to tell. He'll find out, though, eventually. Or pester him, later.]

Michael. Hatter.

And Kira. And I do mean Kira, not Lucifer. So don't try to kill him when you see him.

Ki—

[ Yeah, he chokes on that one, far too stunned to even try and mask his shock. So he just stares at you, mouth struggling to formulate something, ANYTHING. He almost retches from the build-up of stress that name induces within him, the images of his death replaying hauntingly in front of his eyes. It can’t be! Impossible! Not Kira! ] Ki—Kira, you mean—but he died! He’s dead! He’s—

[ Suddenly livid, he grabs your shoulder and yanks you towards him. ] Listen, don’t you fuck with me!

[His expression remains pretty somber, especially for Setsuna, who's normally a bit more cheerful. The words he gives next might explain it. He just lets Katou do whatever, not even protesting.]

I'm not. This place doesn't care about time, or where it drags people from.

The same way Kira can be here alive when he's dead where you're from is the same reason you can be here alive when you're dead where I'm from. He's was pulled out before his death.

Thankfully. I don't feel like dealing with Mister Four Wings, myself. He's too much an ass at times. [Even if he is Setsuna's ally.]

[ Okay, this is just ridiculous. He stares at you, deadpan. ]

Dude, get real.

[Eye roll.] Don't believe me. Just go to the apartment and see for yourself. And, seriously, don't kill him when you see him. I'll have to restrain you.

[ He raises both hands in front of him (one gloved, one metal), palms outward. ] Okay, okay! Seriously whatever, man! Not like I care, anyway! Go ahead and have fun in your … your fuckin’ nuthouse blizzard shithole! I don’t give a flyin’ fuck, bro! You have my blessing!

What are you going on about? [A sigh. He didn't expect this to be easy, but, well, he didn't anticipate it to be this hard, either.]

[ He’ll just be trudging after you, arms crossed and muttering to himself. While he’ll probably come to terms with everything sooner than later, this is his way of dealing with it. Go figure. So he blatantly ignores your question, glaring at you through the thick fall of snow. ]

Are we there yet?

Yeah...actually, we are.

[They're in front of a tall apartment building. And, of course, they live on the top floor.]

[ Katou follows you through the doors, breathing a sigh of relief once the warmth of its interior floods over his cold body. Feeling his shoulders slacken, he pulls off the glove and hands it back to you, brushing the snow off his head. Damn it, he’s wet through! ]

Fuck! Well, y’better value my company, brat, ‘cause I ain’t goin’ back out there. [ He points out the door, then fumbles around his pocket and fishes out a pack of cigarettes, lighting up hastily. He’s been feeling like one forever. ]

You better not smoke in the apartment, then. I'll toss you right back out. [It's bullshit, but whatever. Setsuna goes to the elevator after taking the gloves, still shivering a bit. He does give Katou a smile though, leaning over to the buttons as if he might close the doors any second.]

You jus’ try.

[ He jumps in after you, giving you a warning look and slumps against the elevator wall. ]

If I did, [he talks as he watches Katou slump against the elevator] I'd probably win, too.

[ He laughs, plucking the cigarette from his lips to tap the loose ash onto your head. ] Dream on.
