[He takes a deep breath.]

[A long pause.]

In the meantime, is there an available doctor in the area?

Where are you and why did you go outside?

[He gives vague locations -- probably enough to figure out where he is, but it's obvious he's not thinking clearly.]

No matter what I say to the second question, you're going to call me an idiot.

I already know you're an idiot and I'm an idiot because I'm coming out to help you.

What's the infestation like in your vicinity?

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[There's a pause as he looks around.]

Mild. I think I just had bad luck.

[hulkbusted]

I'm coming. How bad is the injury?

[He's on the move and Meyer is not on his list of favorite people right now.]

[recognize_an_opportunity]

It doesn't look good, but I've seen worse.

[Meyer's currently holed up with a gun, hoping no ghouls approach him.]

Remind me never to enlist you for triage. The question is to determine how much risk I need to take on my way.

I'm not dying. No major organs are damaged. I'm not bleeding to death. Does that help?

[hulkbusted]

Yeah. Apply pressure and hang on, I'll be there as soon as I can.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[Pressure will be dutifully applied, though he keeps one hand free to hold his gun. No way is he making the same mistake twice.]

[It takes time for Bruce to get there without attracting the attention of the City's undead guests, but after what may feel like far too long, he sends Meyer a text.]

I'm outside, let me in.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[He walks slowly to the door, opening it up, leading gun first, of course. When he sees that it's Bruce, he relaxes his defensive stance. He has a handkerchief pressed to his side, but the blood has soaked through his shirt and jacket.]

Thanks for coming.

[hulkbusted]

[Bruce slips inside and closes and locks the door. Niceties can wait until the skin on the back of his neck isn't crawling in anticipation of a zombie bite.]

Yeah, well, I was having a stupid moment of my own. Let's get a look at the wound.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[He peels the handkerchief away from his side, then lifts his shirt to reveal the wound. It's deep, but not life threatening, although from the way he sways slightly, the effects are already getting to him.]

[Glasses on, Bruce leans in to peer at the wound before reaching out a hand to guide Meyer to better light.]

From what I've seen, you're going to be feeling like hell pretty soon. I want to get this patched up first and we'll take it from there.

I'm not feeling so great already.

[And the wound hurts like hell.]

Yeah, well, get ready for even more fun. Shirt and coat off and then I'll give you some anesthetic. You might need some stitches and I definitely need to clean this.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[He can't say he's exactly a fan of taking off his shirt in front of anyone, but he won't grumble about it -- Bruce seems to know what he's doing, and maybe he can help make this a little more tolerable. He tosses off his jacket, fumbles to unbutton his shirt, then sets it aside, too, unable to avoid at least an attempt at folding it. He's uncoordinated, though, probably from the shock of the bite and the resulting pain.]

Will cleaning it help, at this point?

[He's not trying to be fatalistic, but standing there shirtless with a zombie bite in front of someone he's pretty sure doesn't like him doesn't make him feel very happy.]

[When you come down to it sometimes it's hard to tell if Bruce actually likes anyone.

He seems completely detached when looking at the bite, half-shrugging in response to the question.]

Not cleaning it definitely won't help.

Where can I wash my hands?

[recognize_an_opportunity]

[He gestures tiredly to the kitchen sink. His apartment isn't big, but it's not awful, either -- though there's practically no furniture in it.]

Ever had stitches before?

[Mostly he's just killing time while he washes his hands.]

Any allergies I should know about?

[His bedside manner is usually better, but he's concerned about the little girl he left back in his apartment and what she might do while he's gone.]

[Meyer's also concerned about a little girl -- possibly the same little girl, though they'd have no way of knowing that.]

I've had stitches before. No allergies that I know of.

Good, then I'll be done before you know it.

[The number of times he changes gloves in the next few minutes is nothing short of ridiculous, but Meyer can marvel at the show or ignore it entirely while Bruce gets a suturing kit laid out before he turns on Meyer with a syringe in hand.]

Now for the fun part. I guess we'll use a part of the floor you don't mind scrubbing later. Lie down and I'll give you some anesthetic. You won't feel a thing.

[He's too light-headed to really argue at this point, so he simply lies down as he's told, glad, at least, that he'll be getting some anesthetic.]

The last time I had stitches, they didn't give me anything.

[He gestures to the syringe.]

That makes you a better doctor.

I don't actually like hurting people. [Settling down on his knees next to Meyer, he makes the administration of the anesthetic quick if not wholly painless.]

I'm going to give that a minute to work. Do you have anyone who can come keep an eye on you when I'm done?
