[Hello, City, this is your captain speaking..only he doesn't sound his usual self. In fact, he sounds terrible and if he sounds this terrible, you can be certain he looks just as bad.]

You know..funny thing about being immortal: you don't really get sick...ever.

I guess two-hundred-ish years of a clean bill of health have finally caught up with m- [Somewhat distant coughing fit as he tries to hold the device away. His voice only sounds worse when he starts speaking again.]

...either I've forgotten what a cold feels like or this is some super-cosmic cold out to kill me.

So...don't suppose anyone's got some magic cold-curing ideas from their home worlds? This isn't exactly something I'd like to suffer through over the next week or so.

She stopped and put her hands on her hips. "What do I need to do to get you back into bed?"

It might not feel like it now, but I think you'll live. In the meantime, get back to bed, try to get a bit of rest. I'll bring you soup.

Soup, tea. Just what the doctor ordered. I made it myself.

[he sits on the edge of the bed and hands Jack the bowl. Just to be sure:] Is this another curse?

That would be nice. I don't want to feel like this longer than I have to.

[Not in trouble really. In fact, it might be something of a relief to her. Making someone immortal is a lot to be responsible for.]

Long story short: I got zapped with immortality, lived for nearly 200 years, went back in time and...well..sort of lived through another 2000 and then got the immortality sucked out of me. If that makes any sense.

As for colds, tea and soup will help some of the symptoms, if you can find proper cold medicine here in the City.

Was. And it wasn't a common thing, even in my world.

I think my 'loved ones' are going to drown me in tea and soup at this point.
