Hello? [You can't really see much of anything for a moment, until Tosh pushes herself up into a sitting position on a pile of sand, fumbling for her device. She's been in better shape; right now, she looks exhausted, like she hasn't slept or eaten for more than a day, and she's been crying, to boot. Oh, yeah, and her clothes are ripped, dusty, and have bloodstains on them. She pushes her glasses up for a moment, pinching the bridge of her nose, before she begins speaking again.]

I have to say, this isn't what I expected. Though, after speaking with Owen, I'm not sure I expected anything at all.

[She scoops up a handful of sand and watches the grains fall through her fingers - then, because it's the scientific sort of thing to do, she takes another handful, sniffs it, and...yep, licks a few grains.]

Well, the sand seems ordinary enough. And what about this thing? What is it?

I- [she sets the network device down for a moment and turns away from the camera, looking down at her stomach, where there is definitely no longer a bullet wound] Apparently.

[Rose nods a bit at that.]

All right. Anybody explain to you where you are?

Not yet, no.

All right, then. S'pose I can do it. M'Rose Tyler. [Introductions are a good idea when you're about to tell someone they're stuck.]

You're in a sorta...pocket dimension. You're stuck here but s'not so bad. Lotsa people here. Things end up pretty normal outside of the curses.

Every few days or so we end up cursed to do somethin' or think somethin' or experience somethin'. Few days ago I thought I was really sexy and ran 'round in a corset and some boy shorts. It was a bit embarrassin'.

Pleased to meet you, Rose. I'm Toshiko Sato, but you can call me Tosh.

A pocket dimension? Now that's interesting. I'm not used to interdimensional travel.

[She winces slightly when Rose talks about the curses.] Oh, that doesn't sound too enjoyable. I can't imagine wearing a corset, of all things.

Nice to meet you, Tosh. S'not really all that common. Sorta rips universes apart when you do it.

[She, however, is very accustomed to it.]

Corset wasn't so bad. The curses can be a bit sticky but over all this place isn't so bad.

That makes sense; I worked with a rift in time and space back home and studied it, but it was basically just spatial-temporal travel within the same universe.

It certainly beats bleeding to death, that's for sure, corset or no corset.

[Well that sounds familiar.] Torchwood or UNIT?

[She pauses because she suspects from the way Tosh's wound was healed that she's City!dead but she's not sure it's her place to tell her about it either.]

Yeah, guess it would.

Torchwood. Do you know Jack? Though I imagine that if he's here, probably quite a few people know him, since, well, he's Jack.

[Tosh gets a big smile out of Rose.] Yeah, I know Jack. I used to work for Torchwood in a parallel universe. That's not how I know Jack though. I met him in 1941. Time traveler.

What you do at Torchwood?

Really? Jack and I actually fell through the rift to 1941 once - we ended up meeting the original Jack Harkness, which was...well, confusing, to say the least.

I'm the tech person. I handle security, computers, things like that.

There's an original Jack Harkness? [Well the Doctor did say he wasn't really a captain. Rose had just assumed that was jealousy talking.]

I was there with the Doctor. Jack rescued me.

That's got to be interestin'. Never really understood all of the tech things m'self.

Yeah, he was an American serving with the RAF in Cardiff.

The Doctor? As in Jack's Doctor, right?

I love it - experimenting with alien artifacts is the job of a lifetime for me.

I had no idea. Doctor did try to warn me he wasn't a captain.

Oi! He was my Doctor first. [Bit of jealousy and possessive coming out there but she grins and nods.] Same Doctor though.

You woulda love this placed Doctor and I stopped once. A whole museum full of alien artifacts. A Dalek got loose and they ended up lockin' the Doctor up and torturin' him but it was brilliant 'til then.

[Just wait till she runs into Nine and realises she's met him. :o] Well, I'm just more used to Jack talking about him, that's all. Not that he's ever talked about him much, just...mentioned him in a cryptic sort of way.

It's all fun and games till someone gets tortured - or till you nearly get eaten by cannibals, I suppose.

[That'll be fun. She ought to hug him but then Rose thinks everyone should hug Nine.] Sorta the way you tend to talk 'bout the Doctor.

Oi yeah that sorta ruins all the fun. Sounds like you've got some experience there.

Ianto and I got captured and nearly eaten once - not really one of the highlights of my career.

Had to be excitin' though. Bein' rescued and runnin' and the like?

Well, rather more terrifying, to be quite honest.

[Sorry, Rose, it was traumatic. :C]
