I'm down one physics student, which leaves me with a lot more ticking time. I hate to admit it, but it's getting pretty hard to tolerate.

I guess... what I'm trying to say is that I could use some company. I'm going to find a decent, Cage-free restaurant and lunch will be on me.

There are circumstances. I understand. I can't say I'm necessarily a "good guy," myself. I tend to play too much in the grey areas.

[As promised, she's exactly on time, appearing in the most obnoxious cloud of sparkly smoke one could possibly imagine or expect a woman like herself to show up in. She opted for the costume, if only so he'd recognize her from the waist-down. It's a good thing that she's seen him before, lest they may not bump into one another.

She looks pretty pleased with herself. From the tone she takes when she talks, this is probably also to be expected.]

[If he'd had a suit in his closet, Bruce might have thrown it on, but until the suit fairy visits, he's making do with a relatively unrumpled oxford and slacks combo and his winter coat. He's feeling pretty okay about that until he gets a look at Zatanna in person for the first time, then he's feeling woefully underdressed and out of his depth.

Standing, he rubs his hands together to make sure they aren't clammy before offering her his hand.]

Zatanna? I'm Bruce. It's good to meet you.

Zatanna. [She confirms while removing her top hat before reaching for his hand to return a rather hearty shake. She intentionally slides her fingertips over his palms when she pulls away and quickly flips her top hat back on.]

Likewise, Bruce. Have I mentioned that I'm a professional magician? I feel I should reiterate it, either way. [Either that or she likes dressing up a whole lot.]

[At least his palm wasn't clammy but he'll surreptitiously rub it on his pants leg after he sits down.]

Should I be checking to make sure my watch hasn't turned into a rabbit in your... let's forget pockets... top hat?

I don't do that. It's very jarring to be inanimate and suddenly free-thinking. I don't turn animals into inanimate objects, either.

[She takes a seat, however, and tries to segue the conversation into not rabbits that are watches that are rabbits...]

I'm glad you're punctual. I tend to teleport from place to place. It's just easier.

Duly noted. [Although he does wonder what one of Tony's AIs would experience with that kind of transition.]

I've run into a few people who do that since I got here. [Sliding a menu across the table to her.] I have to settle for hoofing it, and it's been my experience that people who work in labs go one of two ways - they're acutely aware of time and timing the way I am, or they lose all sense of it if it isn't in a centrifuge or similar piece of equipment.

In my vast experiences with men that wear lab coats, I'm inclined to agree with that assessment. [Magic and science! How do they mesh?!] One of my best friends is a scientist and a speedster, so it goes doubly for him.

[She takes the menu and gives it a quick glance over.] Is there anything you'd recommend? I'll be frank and say I could totally just get some bread and eat it, but I don't want to be that weirdo who does that.

[Scanning the menu, it's easy to come up with a long list of vegetarian-friendly options, but he settles on a familiar one.]

Palak paneer's a good choice, but I might just be partial to masala flavors in general. If you just want bread, we can share some naan. This isn't my first lunch of the day anyway. I should have the ticking well under control for a while after this.
