You reopened wounds I had forgotten.

Thank you for giving me yet another reason to set my sights on you.

( The amount of blood Alexiel lost during a certain curse (~~on the 15th~~) had caused the angel to feel an exhilarating amount of bloodlust. Upon finding herself bleeding, she had managed (though she cannot recall how) to bar herself in a basement of sorts.

As she bled from wounds that brought back a barrage of memories, she had focused her enraged thoughts on the Deities. Though she could have torn the basement (and the building attached to the basement) apart, Alexiel had held herself back. (Yet the furrows in the stone floor and walls are testament enough to her frustration.)

She had awoken on the floor of said basement and found that her energy had been sluggish to return. However she found the strength to pick herself up and reenter the throng of people wandering about the City.

Her clothes are torn and there is dried blood on her skin. To make matters even ~~worse~~more interesting, her wings are fully visible and there is a dangerous glint in her eyes.

She also seems to be carrying Nanatsusaya. Her fingers are wrapped so tightly around the hilt that her knuckles are white.

Who doesn't want to approach her? )

( OOC: I meant to put this up on the 15th (~~obviously~~), but I've been sick, so yay backdating? ;-; )

[Even though he wasn't staying at the apartment, that didn't mean Setsuna stopped caring about the two he left behind. He had been out getting a little food for himself, and some for Saya, but a certain energy caused him to turn.]

[He knew that aura, its tattered state, he didn't even need to see her. His errand was forgotten as he went right up to Alexiel, no fear or concern for himself.]

Hey, Alexiel, what are you doing out here like this?

[ Hei is seated in a cafe with its facade open to the cool afternoon. Sipping his juice, he spots Alexiel in the crowd, bloodstained and terrifying. For a moment he watches with absolutely no comment, no reaction. He's seen a lot of shit in his time in Heaven's War and with the Syndicate. This is no exception. ]

[ Also there's a strange shred of him that is fascinated. ]

[ He ignores it. ]

Ah! [ For the benefit of the public venue, more than anything, his attitude is pure 'Li'. ] M-Miss Alexiel?

( Something deep within the angel recognizes Setsuna immediately. Even her exhausted state can't erase the lifetime she spent with Setsuna (and as Setsuna). Thus, when he comes close enough, she grabs the back of his neck and leans against him, her eyes closed. )

They took advantage of my current state. They tried to anger me.

( Alexiel's eyes flash and she raises her sword. Her wings beat powerfully as, once again, the warrior within her takes the reins. )

Stop pretending! You smell blood upon me and wonder what I have done...

Or what has been done to me.

What do you mean?

[He puts an arm around her, gentle, to keep her close.]

You okay?

Wounds from the past - wounds that were never mine - ( She curls her fingers, tensing. ) I put myself in a prison. I held myself back. I could have...destroyed the City.

[ He won't drop the pretense. Not in public. Not until they're out of view and earshot. Instead he shrinks from the sword's tip. ]

...Actually I was wondering if you were cursed.

[ It is the weekend. No one is safe. ]

( Shifting the sword, she grabs the front of his shirt and propels him (and herself) into a nearby alleyway. )

What do you think?! ( She opens her shirt (what is modesty?) and shows him ~~her ample breasts~~ the healing wounds on her stomach, chest, throat and just about everywhere in between.

War sucks. )

[ Hei is secretive by nature and profession. But he's never been a coward. By the time she's dragged him to the alleyway, 'Li's wide-eyed facade has slipped. His face doesn't express surprise or revulsion. But his eyes narrow, assessing the wounds. They're ugly; all war-wounds are. Her semi-nudity doesn't even register. ]

I think [ calm, composed, flat ] the City enjoys making everyone feel powerless.

[Hey! Those ~~ample breasts~~ healing wounds are private!]

( Welp. They were.

Hope the weather isn't too cold. )

[He knew that she was in trouble even before viewing the network post, Nanatsusaya was a bond of sorts, no matter how messed up this place was. Kira had gone to find her immediately and expected to see her in bad conditions, but he definitely hadn't expected that.]

...right.

[What does one even say to that? For now he just ignores Hei and looks at Alexiel instead - beautiful to him no matter what state she is in.]

Are you healing?

( She pushes herself back, leaning against the opposite wall. )

You've experienced it too. ( Without looking, she sheathes Nanatsusaya and focuses on him. ) What are you going to do about it?

Do we just lay down and take it?

(Her attention shifts when he arrives. Without bothering to hide herself - thank goodness her hair is so long (and loose at the moment), Alexiel turns to face him. )

They're pushing me to do something drastic. I think they want it. ( She is healing. Outwardly, at least. Not inwardly. )

[ A brief nod. That's as up-front as he'll be about Heaven's War. He leans against his side of the wall, hands slipping into his pockets. ]

The City's system -- whatever or whoever controls it -- can't be fought that easily.

[ He's never been in control. Not here. Not at home. The Syndicate was the one that called the shots in his world. He despises the servitude. But Hei is a strategist at his core. Engaging a stronger force -- one largely unknown -- will result in swift disaster. When Kira arrives he offers no reaction. He just watches him and Alexiel interact. Automatically on recon-mode. His cover, for the most part, is irrelevant now. ]

Don't let it be on their terms, Alexiel.

[He steps closer to her, but his eyes are on Hei. He sees through him - up to a degree - and he isn't planning on giving him more information than necessary. On the other hand, he might be useful.]

Did you try to fight? [A smirk that's a mask similar to Hei's and at the same time more real than his stoic facade at times.] Senpai?

Why do you think I locked myself in a basement? ( Until she was worn out enough to not cause epic destruction. ) When I felt the first wound, I knew more would follow.

( Her life has been filled with one wound after another. The ones she recalls clearly generally happened to those around her. And now her body is covered with each and every mark she saw inflicted on friends and comrades. )

I would have killed citizens. ( If she must, so be it. But - ) I will not risk harming you, Setsuna or Sara.

[ He offers Kira absolutely no expression. He's aware their group is plotting an uprising of sorts. But whether Hei will be a pawn in it or not is entirely his choice. He's had enough of agendas and tools. ]

I'd have to determine who the actual enemy is first.

[ For all he knows, the Deities aren't even the real string-pullers. ]

[He wants to talk to her alone, he wants to touch her and speak truth while maybe managing to offer some comfort.

Damn Hei's presence. But he might be able to make something of it.]

How do you think you can determine that?

In theory? [ Because practice is another story entirely. ] You capture one of the 'Deities'. And interrogate them. [ You. Not I. The doublespeak is blatant. He won't participate in a foolhardy venture unless for self-benefit. ]

No. ( Being an Organic Angel has its perks. While she may sustain horrible wounds, they will heal relatively quickly as long as she isn't in a human body. )

How did you know where to find me?

( She glances at Hei, frowning. ) The enemy controls us every day. Even if some Deities are more at fault than others, they all must pay the price.

Got lucky.

[As if he's about to explain Nanatsusaya in front of Hei. He's not stupid. And not as rash as her, either.]

Your theory would suggest that you believe the deities can be harmed, threatened.

[ He keeps half an ear on Kira and Alexiel's exchange. At the subtext behind it. At Alexiel's remark, he shakes his head. Her sense of justice is noted. Unfortunately Hei isn't quite so high-minded. A lot of beings -- human, inhuman -- are at fault, in this world and others. But not all of them get their just-desserts. ] You can't fight them all at once. Not unless you know more about them. And about the City. [ To Kira ]It's exactly what it is. A theory. [ There's only one way it can be tested. ]

Hm. ( She smirks faintly, making no move to point out the sword. It is comforting that he's still connected to it. )

You can learn a lot about your opponent by battling them. ( Some might call her approach reckless, but so be it. She isn't the sort to sit back and plan if/when there's an opening to strike. )

Learning by killing. It's the education system where she comes from.

[True enough, while not really telling anything at all.]
