012 ♛ Video | Action - 4th wall

[ he avoided the last influx of random strangers, preferring to stay far away in case Uther showed up. Well... not if he actually did, but, you know. Family is family and Arthur's father was in a league all on his own.

But, he can't avoid them forever. ] If you recognize me, fear not. I am neither trapped in yonder box you're holding or some apparition intent on haunting you from the grave. I am alive and well.

If you head to the center of the City, I'll explain everything then.

[ and so he will. it's going to be a long trying day ~~and playing hooky from work~~ stationed near the fountain. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the infernal racket brought on by the carousel. It's almost enough to turn a grown man mad. ]

((ooc: anything and everything goes. just beware this is early S2 Arthur so he won't recognize half of everyone!))

[An undead... zombie rat goes scurrying up to Merlin and wiggles its nose. It then jumps off the fountain and runs away.

A few minutes later a man in sunglasses and an undead feeling comes walking up to him. The rat is on his shoulder.]

Hello.

Hello... [ he stares a moment, sadly not as unused to rats as one would hope ] Do I even want to know why you have a rat on your shoulder? I do hope you know where it's been. [ and if he catches it near his boots, hey may have to hurt something. ]

It's my minion. [Not pet. Minion. Hee.] And not likely but it's not carrying anything.

[raising it from the dead killed off any possibility of disease.]

Yes, well your pet could still likely use a bath. [ what a strange man calling a rat a minion. Better to call his horse his first in command! ]

It'd probably fall apart if I did that. Washing zombies is generally a bad idea.

[Zombie rats are minions, not pets, if you're a necromancer.]

[ his jaw drops and then words failed to form. ]

Ah... a what?

Zombie rat?

[Fortunately Theo doesn't offer Jasper to be inspected closer.]

Well, yes, but what is a zombie? Some special breed of rat? [ he's 11th century Arthur. One can't expect him to know what a zombie is just yet. ]

[Right, right. Theo would forget, except he doesn't know nor would think about it.]

It's a rat that died and then I raised it back into a semblance of life. Zombies are a type of undead.

[ Arthur takes a step back, shock on his face. ] You raised that thing from the dead?

[ what strange foulness is this! But just give him a moment to wwrap his mind around this new sacrilege. Is there anything magic can't do? No wonder his father outlawed it. ]

Yes, I did. [Ho-boy. This one is going to be fun.]

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it either. It's a god given ability.

[And that's absolutely true!]

It still reeks of foulness if you ask me. Did you even think to ask that rat if it wished to be brought back from the dead?

[ not that animals can really speak, but it was still worth the mentioning! ]

It was dead at the time I brought it back. And I didn't bring it back intentionally. I got hit by that circus.

But if I was going to raise a human, I would ask them first.

[IE. Check to see if they had left consent to be raised as an undead in their medical records.

What?

Some worlds have do no resuscitate orders others have it's okay to raise me as an undead orders. ]

[ ... how barbaric ]

Well... Good. And for the record, I don't wish to be raised. [ for now. If he leaves the kingdom with an heir, that may well be a different thing then. For the sake of his kingdom, he'd do anything. ]

[Considering how utterly disgusted at the whole thing he's acting.]

Well, just... keep that thought in mind then. [ and then Arthur takes a step back, contemplating leaving. Not because he was afraid of this man, no, never that, but simply because it was either kill the rat, or have a staring contest with the thing.

Personally, he'd much rather not find out if he'd lose. ]

[It's only okay to play hookie from work if your boss is doing it, too. Charlie had a rough day yesterday, what with Merlin meeting her dad who is supposed to be dead.

So she might have attacked the vodka bottle Pavel gave her after the cirucis thing and is now peering at Arthur from the comfort of her room.

Also? She might be wearing one of Merlins shirts instead of her own. What?]

I hope friends from your home show up. That's always interesting.

[ ... It's one thing to know it and another thing to actually see it. Wasn't there some rule or another he's heard? Something about "not before the wedding?" ]

Interesting good or interesting bad? I'd much rather not have any of the latter.

[ Instant merkat. Pie? Where's the pie? ] As much as I would love to see my father, I hope you don't mind me saying I'd much rather avoid him at the moment.

[ he still hasn't figured out a full proof plan to save Merlin from Uther's anti-magic stance just yet. Heck, he still hasn't figured out how to save the whole dang City ]

[PIE IN THE FRIDGE. GOOD PIE! APPLE PIE! GRANDMA NORMA'S APPLE PIE WHICH IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST! GO GET THAT PIE!]

Uther. [Yeah. She's heard. She's keeping her face neutral. Something she's good.] I don't mind at all. Anyone from home you'd love to see?

Several, actually. [ Gwen immediately came to mind though it's been some odd six months or so since he's seen her. ] Any of my knights would be a welcome addition. I wouldn't even mind Morgana. [ and she was a cruel mistress with her tongue and barbs. ]

I'e heard of Gwen. That's one of Merlin's best friends back home. [Charlie smiles, resting her elbow on her knee and her chin in her hand.]

You'll let me know, right? Who shows up? I'd love to hear about it.

... You would? I mean, sure, if you're really that keen that is, but I highly doubt anyone will show.

[ no expectations means he can't be disappointed, right? ]

Well, there's really not much to tell.

I'd still find it fascinating, however much their was.

[ he shakes his head ] Well, if that's what you want, but I have to admit, I still don't really see the point if they're not here.

[ but, being able to talk about Uther and what a great man he is, well... that does sound kind of nice. ]

[Hey, look at that, it's a rather kingly-looking fellow (though one pointedly refraining from wearing his crown) traipsing around the center of the City, keeping one eye on the Carousel as he tries to get his bearings.]

Pardon me! I assume this ought to go without saying, but, er, in the interest of being thorough I was wondering if I might ask - these aren't the Mountains of Morning, are they?

[ Arthur shakes his head after a moment of making sure this fellow was actually speaking to him and not someone else. ]

I'm afraid not. You must be new to the City. [ in truth, he expects at least one in two to be brand new. It's certainly not going to make his job any easier today. ]

How verily inspiring, Arthur Pendragon. What has this realm done to uplift your spirits so?

[ he tries to hide his grin and fails. He's missed you, Morgana. Your snark, your insufferable ways, and the way you like to make his life a living hell. ]

Well I can certainly say that you have nothing to do with them, lifted or no. Where are you? What can you see?

[ How sweet of you, Arthur. And since I haven't picked a canon point, we'll even say she smiles right back ! ]

I can see a certain Prince being a prat to the general populace through a [ don't say magical, because Arthur is using it, therefore it can't be magic, right? ] box of some sort.

[ A smirk, that falls away quickly as she looks around. ]

But apart from that, I reckon this must be someone's garden. It's quite unlike any I've seen in Camelot, for certain.

[ She doesn't seem too concerned. She's been exploring, and there's no one about to tell her she's not allowed. ]

[ Ah. The gardens. Quickly, walking as he speaks (a task that took him no less then three months to master), he heads her way. ]

It's a phone and apparently it operates by some science we've never dreamed of yet, but I've been well assured it has nothing to do with magic. [ no, no indeed. They're much more open with the real use of magic, here. ]

And you can't call me a prat. I'm just Arthur here. [ and he has to admit, on more days then not lately, he doesn't mind that a bit. ]

[ Thank the gods for as much, lest Uther have their heads for speaking to one another. The smirk that flits across her lips says as much, but she knows better than to voice it aloud.

But at the last, there is a small smile to her lips, quiet, reserved (proud, maybe, though she'd never admit to such). What has this realm done, indeed. ]

Is that so? And what is "just Arthur" doing here? I've seen it's called the City; how terribly droll.

[ Ridiculed and insulted him at every turn. Also, Merlin's more famous then Arthur. It's downright idiotic. ]

"Just Arthur" is trying to find a way back home. I'm afraid we're all rather stuck here and sadly, no one ever seems to know where here is. At least you appear to be in good health. No one's tried anything, have they?

[ he's seen the random curses. He knows how unsettling they can be! Not that he's seen anything to be suspicious of yet, but one can never be too sure. ]

Please, Arthur. You know I can defend myself every bit as well - if not better - than those Knights of yours.

[ A good-natured roll of her eyes, and she smiles again. ]

Now hurry up, won't you? I want to meet this "just Arthur," he sounds far more charming than the boy I know.

[ and he glares at the screen ] I am hurrying. You don't know how large this City is. Now just stay where you are and I'll be there in a bit. [ if she wants him to hurry, that means he'll have to take public transportation. Ugh. He would never get used to those things. ]

[ She grins gleefully; at least he acknowledges that she could wipe the floor with anyone that tries to come at her. ]

If I must. Do remember that it's rude to keep a Lady waiting, my Lord.

[ She'll even prop her chin up in her hands with a pleasant smile, the very picture of demure. ]
