Of course not.

[A slight shrug.]

I'm from New York. Given what I've gathered in my brief time here, I'm informed that it's necessary to say that it was 1963, the last time I checked. And you?

Split my time between New York and LA, 2012.

New York in the future... How is it?

Big, loud. Bit crazy sometimes, but I'm guessing that's always been the case.

That's what makes it such an exciting place to work.

[A pause to sip his lemonade.]

You strike me as a career woman, Pepper. What do you do?

Here I'm CEO of City Solutions, a company that does technology and scientific research. Back home I do much the same with Stark Industries, which I'm willing to bet you don't have in your New York.

Beautiful and powerful. An impressive mix.

[He shakes his head.]

No, I've never heard of Stark Industries.

It was started by Howard Stark, who's here, as a weapons manufacturer around the War, then continued on by his son Tony, who's also here, but now we no longer make weapons and we focus on things like clean energy.

Fascinating. Do you already have someone in charge of your advertising department?

[threeolives]

Not that I know of. Is that what you do, Don? Advertising?

Yes, I'm the Creative Director at Sterling Cooper, but then, maybe you haven't heard of it, being from the future.

No, can't say that I have. While I appreciate the offer, if that's what this is, I think it's unlikely you'll be around come Monday. These ...visitor weekends, for lack of a better term, are just that. Weekends.

Of course. I just had to extend the offer when I saw an opportunity presented to me. Can you really blame me?

No I can't. I would expect no less of any enterprising marketing person. No offense, of course.

None taken. We're both professionals, and I imagine you'd leap at a similar opportunity.

[ She laughs. ] I probably would. Though I wouldn't just go in, "do you need a CEO?" I'd probably ask if there were positions available in accounting. Or for a personal assistant.

I think it's a little different with a CEO. You can't just invite yourself into that one.

No, I think not.
