[ 009 ] ♐ [ Action ] Fourth Wall.
[ Clint's not planning on admitting to it any time soon, but the conversation he had with Phil recently about everything that happened before either of them arrived here has been weighing on him a little, and he knows that he's not been the best person to be around lately. Well, less so than usual, at least, and that's when he's not been going off alone.
So he's up earlier than he's been used to, dressed, and out walking Fury around the streets of the City, a take-out cup of coffee in hand. It's not that he doesn't often walk their dog, but he doesn't usually do it quite so early, especially not on a weekend, and this way Phil gets to sleep in without Fury barking for attention and waking up the whole building.
Sometimes he's slow on the uptake when it comes to personal things, better at shrugging them off than dealing with them, but Clint's finally settling into everything, thankful that he's been given chances he would never have had at home, and he's happy. He knows how lucky he is and he doesn't plan on taking it for granted.
He's in a good mood, even smiling outright without attempting to conceal it, and even the fact he's noticed that there are far more people out in the streets, the majority looking puzzled, which can only mean another long weekend of strangers flooding can't dampen his good spirits.
He should probably know by now that this amount of contentment can never last. ]

[ He watches the scene with an air of patience, not really minded that she's all over his dog despite the protective streak, and he knows he's one for going up to fuss over the dogs of others. The laugh makes it worth it, lighting her entire face up, and he wonders what world she's from, why she's not had much contact with pets. ]
That's pretty much how I look at things. One strange thing happens after the other and it's easy to let it break you. I'd rather keep what sanity I've got left.

[She pauses a moment, and gives a light little laugh.]
S'pose I should have figured that, since... [She looks down at the dog.] I'm sorry... I didn't get his name. Walkers ate most of 'em back home, an' the ones they didn't have gone wild.
[Maggie fusses over the dog for a few moments longer and gives him one last scratch behind his ears before she rises again. She squints and looks around, running a hand through her hair.]
Say...Is there a place I can get a shower? From th'look of things I'm guessin' there's hot water... [She's taking this pretty damn good, mostly because she's fairly certain she's just dreaming, and as long as she's dreaming she figures she should take advantage of it.] If I'm goin' t'be stuck here for a bit I might as well take advantage of the things I can't get where I'm from, right?

He's curious, even if he's not sure he wants to find out the answer. ] Walkers?
He goes by many names, but the main one's Fury. [ He gives him a pet of his own, to praise him for not showing either of them up. ]
Sure. There's a motel around here, but you can come back to use mine if you want.

Walkers, Roamers, Lurkers, Biters, they go by so many different names, jus' depends on who you are. But mainly, they're the walking dead. Zombies. They all started...coming back to life almost a year ago. Everything is gone...
[She glances down at the dog with a fond little smile.]
Fury huh? Don't seem like he's all that angry t'me.
[She brightens a little.]
That's awful kind of you, but I might just check out the motel. Been ages since I've had a space t'myself.
[She'd rather have a space to herself with Glenn, but since he's not here, she'll take one on her own.
There's a little pause when she realizes.]
Or maybe not. I don't have any money... don't have any use for it. Might make gettin' a room a pain, I guess.

[ He's weighing up whether or not to take back the thought that he's hard to surprise, that he's seen enough strange happenings to roll with the punches. But if the dead started rising and infecting those around them, he's pretty sure he would be surprised. Terrified, even. ]
It's more of an inside joke between me and the friend I got him with. Boss's called Fury.
[ He nods, shrugs, because he can understand that. ]
We don't have walkers here, so you should make the most of it while it lasts. The service's good.
[ He takes some money out of his pocket, handing it over before he even stops to think about it. ]
Take this. Boarding should be free for our special weekend visitors, happens every couple of months, so they make exceptions. But in case you need anything.

[Hey, she's just a small town girl. Living in a lonely world. She never would have believed that the dead could walk if she hadn't seen them herself, if she hadn't... lost part of her family. It is terrifying. Being terrified is one of the things that keeps them alive.]
I see. [She gives the dog another pat on the head.]
I think I will. Might actually eat m'self int'a coma 'fore this weekend is over.
[She looks at the cash wide eyed for a moment before she takes it. She probably wouldn't, but if she's dreaming, then she's not really putting him out, right?]
I shouldn't take this, you're being much to nice t'me, for me t'take advantage of y'like this. Thank you- [Her brow creases.] I haven't gotten your name... [She offers the cash back.] I'll manage just fine without it. I don't deserve t'take it from y'if I can't even be polite enough t'ask y'r name.

You want any company on that mission and I've got your back.
[ He shrugs, tucking his hands in his pockets as if to make it final, careful of the lead wrapped around his hand. ]
Not doing anything with it, so I figure you need it more than me. Might as well enjoy the safety while it lasts, right? [ He's totally not taking it back. ] Name's Clint.

[She can take a hint, she looks genuinely appreciative even ans she folds the money up and tucks it in her pocket.]
You're welcome t'come along, it'll even be my treat.
[Maggie laughs and offers a hand, now not holding any cash so it's safe...]
Maggie.
