I remember Saxon. ( A beat, and her voice hardens a little. ) I also remember the rest of that year.

( In flashes only, and she's never quite sure whether she didn't dream it, but between what the Doctor's said about the Master so far and what she remembers, knowing that living in her house as a child and travelling with the Doctor's given her a memory different from other people —

Yeah, she remembers. And that was probably real. One more aborted timeline, one more universe to keep straight in her own head. )

[Everybody is ruining his fun today. He hasn't had this much fun ruined since he turned into a rabbit which was three days ago, but who's counting.

So he's just going to raise an eyebrow at that statement.]

Well, congratulations on being more perceptive than the entire population of Great Britain, then.

A little bodysnatching, a few other tricks to survive the destruction of Gallifrey, another regeneration, a slightly botched resurrection...it gets hard to keep track after awhile, you know?

I wouldn't, considering I didn't actually survive. But they welcomed me back with open arms before the end, you know? Full pardons, research grants, the works.

I suppose they just drove you crazier than normal, mmm?

They brought me back, but they made the mistake of assuming that I'd be a good little soldier and fight for them. Not the brightest move the Council ever made, but they were sort of grasping at straws by then.

Still, I didn't expect the Doctor to destroy the entire planet.

I can't recall the Council making many good decisions, actually.

You didn't? Honestly, it was a very sound move on his part. Ended the war, wiped out the enemy...I see why he did it. Doesn't mean I like it, but.

It's not very him, though, is it? Well, I mean, it's very him, just not in a way that he'd ever acknowledge, so - oh, you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean. I imagine he's still wracked with guilt over the whole thing, conveniently forgetting the fact he ran away from home in the first place, or the fact that the Council had numerous issues with him...

Oh, you should have seen him after he found me. So much survivor's guilt. He had tears in his eyes and everything! It was fantastic. [The Master is more amused by this than he ought to be. In fact, he might be giggling a little.]

The regeneration before this one was a bit on the pathetic side, even for the Doctor.

I didn't think he could get worse than the one where he wore that dreadful coat, do you remember that? Honestly, I was doing him a favor by killing him in that one.

I can't believe some of his fashion choices. That one was definitely the worst, though the ridiculous scarf was a close second. This one seems to have a bizarre fixation with fezzes.
