I really don't appreciate not being able to sit back today.

[She frowns at the camera, then lifts it, turning it this way and that until she's sure she's given everyone a view of the giant winding key in her back.]

This is the first time I've ever had a curse change my body. I think I prefer the ones where I don't realize I'm acting differently. This is just wrong. Even my cat's freaked out and he's... hiding...under...the...beeeeeeeed...

[Uh oh, she's started to wind down! Her head starts drooping, but then the key is heard being wound and her head lifts again.]

It's interesting that I can get Casts to work on this, but not on other curses. But it's that way with some of you and your magic, right? Anyway, if you have one of these things and you need a hand, I might be able to wind your key from here.

I think. Maybe. I'm still learning what I can do.

I tried to use magic when I had a rain cloud over my head, but nothing worked. As long as I can affect curses in some way, I'm good.

Me too! Though mine are sort of unpredictable and I'm still learning what I can do. Trying to work against the curses and getting nothing back is frustrating.

I'll try to wind the key with a Cast, with magic, but if I can't, I'll go over in person.

Thanks, but I think I've got it under control. I can't Cast the stupid thing away, but I can keep winding it on my own.

Mostly it's affected by the curses, I think, but back home, well... [She smiles sheepishly.] Sometimes I have trouble controlling things.

Perhaps the curses and magic interact in the way as strong magnetic forces and some data-storage devices, where magnetic fields can corrupt stored information by disrupting binary patterns.

[He mirrors her smile.] From what little I know, your magic is very powerful. Anything powerful can be difficult to control... although I think you have more control than you would think. You're far too clever to be outsmarted by magic.

[At first she looks rather confused, until he compliments her. There's a small blush there, but the self-deprecation isn't far behind.]

Well I wish I had better control over my emotions, then. The weather goes crazy when I'm upset.

[Confusion isn't an unusual reaction to things Chekov says. He dismisses that.]

A Vulcan would be more helpful in controlling emotion than I can be. What does the weather do?

The wind picks up, it rains, there's thunder and lightning. The more upset I am, the worse it gets. Sometimes I can be Hurricane Lena. Then there's controlling the other elements. I... kind of ripped up a forest once.

[She sounds ashamed of that one.]
