003 - [Video]

[The camera flickers on to show Rose slowly approaching the kitchen counter with a broomstick in hand. She's tense, almost waiting for something as she surveys the area. The tea kettle lays lifeless on the floor surrounded by chipped tea cups.]

Right. Well so much for you lot.

[She breathes a sigh of relief before setting the broom aside and then running a hand through her hair.]

Suppose I ought to add this to the list. This is almost right up there with Christmas trees.

Are you telling me that you've had problems with animated Christmas trees?
hulkbusted: new (serious - removing glasses)

[personal profile] hulkbusted 2012-10-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I can't say I've run into that. I'm not really sorry either. Do people just get used to that kind of thing?

Christmas trees? I imagine I'll regret even asking, but I admit I'm curious.
rianofski: (But it won't make it any easier to see)

The more I hear about peoples' home experiences, the more grateful I am that I came from a world where remote controlled Christmas trees weren't in existence.

It has its own... bizarre nuances, I assure you. And since it seems to be a requirement to report what year we're from here, it's 1959.

I was born in Russia, I made my business in New York City, and now I reside in a city of my own making.

I had diverse interests. Railroads, steel, coal... and more recently, weapons.
rianofski: (And all is undone)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
And profitable.

I do. This place doesn't seem particularly inclined towards my type of business.
rianofski: (Up to a god)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
And where is home, for you?

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating. Yet another individual from the future. London is a lovely city, though, at least in my time. And what is it you do, Miss...
rianofski: (But it won't make it any easier to see)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Technology... fascinating. I imagine technology has developed a great deal since my time. Do you have a job here in the City?
rianofski: (We're catching bullets in our teeth)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I can relate to the problem. Teleportation technology is a difficult thing to fully master. We've been working on it diligently back home, but...

[You can almost hear the shrug in his voice.]

It's not as easy as one might hope.

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[He pauses, not wanting to divulge anything private, but then reconsiders. Oh, why not. It's not like she'll steal scientific secrets from the work back home -- she'll never be anywhere near his home city, or home time.]

The teleportation technology we were able to cobble together was unstable, to say the least. While it was effective over short distances, it had the unfortunate effect of taking people to random places.
rianofski: (But it won't make it any easier to see)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-19 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Were you ever able to remedy it?
rianofski: (We're catching bullets in our teeth)

[personal profile] rianofski 2012-10-20 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Got lucky and now people can teleport? How fascinating.

Perhaps it's something you could explore further in the City.
rianofski: (It's hard to do but they taste sweet)

Pleased to meet you, Rose. I'm Andrew Ryan.
skylight: (❣ here it goes again)

What Christmas trees?

A little early for those...isn't it...
skylight: (❣ people I can't see again)

[personal profile] skylight 2012-10-20 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a good story... kind of dangerous too though...if it's anything like the mailbox I ran away from before...

But I'm sure we can handle them if they do show up. I'm good. I mean, I'm pretty good most of the time.

What about you?
