( Accidental Video )

( There's a shower running. The hot - considering there's steam - water is hitting a rather curvaceous figure. As it does so, it drips down the figure's hair and body and pools at her feet where it becomes quite...red.

The color of blood.

The woman runs her bruised fingers through her drenched hair and tilts her head back. Her eyes are closed - thus why she hasn't noticed she's being recorded. Along her arms, sides and back, there are bruises and gashes.

Being a warrior isn't easy; being a warrior with a peculiar blood-lust even less so.

Alexiel wraps her pale arms around her body and simply lets the water run over her skin. Exhaling quietly, she leans forward and rests her forehead against the still cool wall. The motion causes the hair that had been plastered to her skin to shift.

It's a good thing she's tilted away from the camera.

Or perhaps not?

Just then, the screen goes black. )

[Once he sees the video, it doesn't take long for him to step into the bathroom. Kira takes off his shirt and lets it fall to the ground, not really trying to hide his presence. No one wants to startle Alexiel, it's unhealthy.

He reaches for her device and makes sure it's turned off and turned away. Then he steps into the shower, bare feet and bare upper body, but still wearing jeans. He doesn't care that they're getting wet.

His fingers slowly run through her hair as he stands right in front of her, watching her face.]

What happened?

( She senses his presence before he steps into the shower. In any other circumstance, she might have found his attire amusing. Wet jeans certainly couldn't be comfortable. But they had endured far, far worse and his...concern?...distracts her nicely.

Raising her gaze, Alexiel does nothing to hide her fatigue, though she does offer him a small smile. )

I lost control. ( Blood is her weakness. It awakens her fury. She had spent the night decapitating zombies and gutting evil clowns. )

Li was in danger. ( Or so it had seemed at the time. Now she wonders if he's far more capable than he lets on. ) I saved him and then...

( Went on a killing spree. )

[ Silence. Exhaustion. Old wounds from battle and blood swirling down a drain. Familiar sights and sensations. But for Hei, not 'Li'. The latter is blushing bright-red -- seemingly torn between horror and embarrassment. ]

Um...

[ His purpose is to check on Alexiel. Not out of solicitude; she can take care of herself. But she saw his mask slip. Like any Contractor, he's circumspect about future problems. ]

Li... ( She glances at her communicator, a little surprised. )

I didn't know it was recording. ( Stepping out of view, she leans against an opposite wall. )

Are you well?

[ He keeps his eyes carefully averted. Hei wouldn't care about her state of undress. But Li has to keep up appearances. ]

These devices always come on at the worst times.

I'm fine. What about you? [ He hesitates. ] You seem to have fought alot of monsters.

I don't blame it for being curious. ( Thankfully there's a towel nearby - not that she's shy. )

( There's a long stretch of silence after his question. How does she even begin to explain she enjoys battle? That something inside of her practically sings when blood is shed? )

I lost control. I can't recall how many I killed.

It's downright nosy sometimes. It's like it has a mind of it's own.

[ She's not the first he's met with an insatiable bloodlust. Hei lives in a world of mercenaries. There are those who genuinely enjoy the wet-work. He's never been one of them. It's just something that needs to be done. That the adrenaline and danger are addicting is besides the point. ]

They were part of a curse. I doubt they were even sentient.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did. ( She has seen computer programs that can take over a person, body and soul. ) As long as it keeps to itself, I won't attempt to destroy it.

( Yet... )

I haven't lost control like that in some time.

I've heard [ know ] you can't destroy them anyway. Even if you break them or lose them. They return mysteriously. [ He doesn't appreciate the intrusiveness. ]

I see. [ Tentative. ] Is that, um, good or bad? [ Some find that loss of control cathartic. For others, it's just unsettling. ]

Then... ( They'll just have to co-exist. ) I will remember to put it in a drawer when I shower.

...both. ( It brought back memories. Lots of them. )

[ Bitter, bitter co-existence. ] That's what I do. Or put it under my bed. [ paaaaause. ] Maybe that's not such a good idea. [ What if you have a girl over, Li? B| ]

Oh. [ That's something he can relate to. ]Well. I wanted to offer you a proper thank you. For fighting off those zombies. [ And that creeeeepy clown. ] If there's any way I can return the favor, please let me know.

[ He could ...cook you something? ]

( She has had to live with worse. ) ... ( Okay, congrats. You just made her snicker, Li. )

There's no need for you to thank me. ( Thanking her for doing something she enjoyed, well, that's weird, isn't it? )

Just look after yourself.

[ Everyone laughs at Li-kun ;; ~~That's the purpose of his camouflage~~ ]

I'll do my best. [ He always does. ] ... [ Blushing again. ] I'll, um, let you get back to your shower.

( It's a bit hard not to when he plays innocent. )

I think most of it is gone. ( The blood, that is. ) I didn't want to upset Setsuna.

[ The only thing innocent about Hei is ... ]

[ ... There's nothing innocent about Hei. ]

Is he a neat-freak?

Or does he have a blood-phobia?

( Thus "plays". )

Neither. He would worry about my well-being, though.

That's expected.

No matter how tough you might be, family tends to worry about their own.

Family, hm? ( That is an interesting way to put it. She has heard it before, but to hear Li say it... ) I'd rather protect him in the end.

[ Contractors don't have ties to anyone. Their loyalties are to themselves. But not Hei. Everything he'd done in the past was to protect his sister. ]

You might as well be. He's your reincarnation and all. [ A rueful smile. ] I'm sure he can handle himself. He seems like a feisty boy.

He hasn't had a choice. ( Setsuna, thanks to her and thanks to certain events, never had an easy time of it. ) It's a wonder he doesn't blame me for everything.

I wouldn't blame him if he did. ( She's used to being hated. ) He is remarkable.

Alot of people don't. But it doesn't make them bitter. [ It just pares them down into something harder and uglier. ] Um... [ A tactful pause. ] You seem used to being blamed for things.

I chose to defy god and heaven; I chose to fall. There are many who dislike me for my choices. They expected me to remain as I was - locked away in Briah like some lifeless doll.

That wasn't the right place for me. I know I'm needed. ( Especially by Rosiel. ) You mentioned family.

Family is important to me.

But given how unfair god was in your world, who can blame you? [ He's from a world of ruthless practicality and coercive organizations. Rebels are a rarity -- an anomaly. They seldom live long. ]

I see. [ Quieter. ] Well then. How unlikable can you be? Anyone who values family has some good in them. [ Even if it amounts to nothing. ] Those who think only of themselves that are usually the monsters.

Those who think solely of themselves describes a great part of heaven. They have forgotten to look beyond their sheltered walls and they ignore the pain and chaos they have caused. It's time for them to wake up.

( Violently. )

My family has grown since I left heaven. I don't regret my actions.

Well. They say City time is different from time in our own worlds.

So when you finally return to yours, you'll be able to take them down. It's just the 'biding-time' until then that's difficult. [ For him, too. ]

He's wearing a mask.

[Kira is fairly sure that Alexiel has seen through that already, but he states it for completeness sake.]

Do you remember everything?

[His hand cups the side of her face and he takes a step closer, their bodies almost touching.]

I noticed. ( Yet something tells her not to point it out to him. ) It slipped for a moment.

( She will keep calling him Li nonetheless. Why poke at something that isn't broken? )

...yes...and no. ( Her eyes fall shut and she leans against his hand. ) I enjoyed it.

I was in the midst of changing their perspective before I came here.

I'll pick up where I left off when I return.

( She has to. )

[Kira's arms slide around her now, their bodies pressed up against each other. His fingers in her hair, he holds her, not caring about the blood and knowing she's used to pain.]

Why wouldn't you? You are still you.

( Not even a ghost of a flinch crosses her features. She doesn't mind the proximity; it's actually what she wants (needs?) and she's certain he knows that. )

There are those I would prefer not killing. ( In other words, she was lucky. ) If they had interfered or gotten in the way...

( This world isn't like heaven or hell...or even the earth they know. She wraps her arms around his waist, sighing faintly. )

But they did not.

[So many other things to worry about in this weird non-life they are living here in limbo. No use to worry about even more 'what if' scenarios than the place is already providing.]

Besides, death is hardly ever permanent here.

You would know. ( Her palm slides over his cheek. ) Has it become painful? Inhabiting one body for so long isn't easy.

[He leans into her touch without even really realizing it, just as he's not aware of his expression softening.]

It doesn't matter.

( Her hand slips down his neck and rests on his shoulder. )

You can be incredibly selfless.

I just do what I want.

[Whatever it takes.]

( A small amused sound follows his words. She presses her lips to his brow. )

Always rebellious.

As was His will.

[He lowers his head to better allow the contact with her lips, but there is also a smile on his lips.]

I've never minded. It suits you. ( That sort of freedom; that sort of passion - it is beautiful. ) Stick around.

I want to.

[So after those significant words she'll find herself pulled closer and kissed.]

Then we'll find a way. ( She returns the kiss without hesitation, idly playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. )
