[ACCIDENTAL VIDEO]

[Hair wild and legs bare, Cameron's sitting on the floor in the midst of a huge sprawl of bits and pieces of beautiful things, focused and indecisive. One by one she opens little jars of color; considering, deciding against, trying another. A few pairs of shoes-- nicer than the nice ones she habitually wears, not work shoes by any stretch-- are tossed haphazardly around her.

Cameron sets a tube of lipstick down beside the device, and notices the light. She just looks amused, picking it up. The picture wavers as it becomes a closeup. She's wearing the slightest of smirks, her eyes already darkly lined and shaded-- more makeup, it's safe to say, than she usually wears in a week.]

I can't decide what to wear.

[And with that, click; no more show for you, City. For now.]

[Hello! Have a 20-something girl in a black corset and tight black pants, wearing more makeup than she's ever worn in the history of everything. It's probably an average amount for most. She's never so much as touched a tube of lipgloss in her life. But, she had help from a neighbor putting it on. So. Yay.]

I had the same damn problem this morning.

It's strange, I'm not usually so indecisive.

[More of a close-up now, the device propped on some convenient piece of furniture-- a little crooked-- as she tries a different color of lipstick in the mirror.]

Neither am I. I'm usually a jeans-and-tshirts girl. Today, though? What a waste of time that would be.

I don't know... Everything I have just seems so-- boring.

Well, what are your options?

Mostly slacks and blouses. There's one dress that's a possibility, but... I'm not in the mood for red, I don't think.

[ Knock, knock, knock ]

[By the light of day, and cursed no less, Cameron's a little less cautious; so a familiar face is enough to get the door open. For once-- cursed into unusual confidence and pleased for the opportunity to show off, even if she's still in her slip-- Cameron is smiling.]

Good morning.

[ Olivia grins playfully back, strangely amused at Cameron's own state of undress. She leans into the open door, not too shy about exposing the fact that her attire consists of only three things: black bra, black panties, and an untied bathrobe. ]

You wouldn't happen to have any make-up I could borrow?

Of course.

[It's the sort of curse that will mystify and embarrass in hindsight, but for now, in its throes, none of this seems strange. She steps back, leaving space for Olivia to pass, gesturing towards the spill of cosmetics on the floor.]

I was just trying to decide what to wear,

[She says conversationally, looking at the mess without concern.] I wonder if I should go shopping.

[ Oh, it definitely will be the same for Olivia, but for now, she's just going to have fun. Olivia takes the invitation gladly, stepping in to examine her collection sprawled out on the carpet. ]

Why don't I give you a hand? [ She places a hand on her hip. ] Show me your choices.

Just a sec.

[She leaves Olivia to the makeup for now to raid her closet-- well, more to raid the pile of clothes on the bed, as that's where most of her wardrobe has ended up.

She comes back a few minutes later, with a few outfits on hangers: a few of her shorter skirts, all blacks and greys, and some sleeveless blouses, and one incongruously flirtatious red dress.]

I'm just not sure I'm feeling the red today.

I think -

[ Olivia is wearing that serious look that's usually only reserved for her cases.

She pauses, placing a finger against her cheek. ]

Do you have any leather?

Ooh.

[It's a thought that hadn't occurred to her.]

I don't.

[But what a perfect thought...]

Can you wear leather at the hospital?

[ Pffft, but who cares. ]

I think we have to rectify this.

Well, I can put a lab coat over leather,

[She affirms, studying the red dress. It might do to go shopping in, anyway. The bigger danger is of someone bleeding or vomiting or worse on her hypothetical leather, but this is hardly a curse about practicality.]

Will you help me pick something out?

I'd love to.

[ Olivia winks, then steps toward the door. ]

Just let me put on a jacket.

[Nevermind that, neighbors or not, they're next to strangers. There are important things at stake here. Cameron just smiles and turns back towards her room to change into something to shop in, having at least enough presence of mind not to walk out naked.]

[Without it's owner's knowledge or intent, this device clicks on to record. Nothing but the silence of softly taken breath and, after too long to stare at one post without responding, a clearing of his throat.]

[Shoulders up now, her hair pulled back, Cameron smiles a little and taps twice on the lens, the blur of a fingertip covering a shoulder as she does. Just in case you didn't notice you're broadcasting.

For now, just this once, she's unequivocally pleased about any attention being given her looks.]

[Oh, of course. And he can't just switch off now without other implications being made.

So - it sounds as if he's just swallowed hard -]

[She replies back, sounding not in the least ashamed of her partial undress.]

Did you have an opinion?

[On what she ought to wear, of course.]

[She's asked, what else can he say.]

I've always loved your hair like that.

[That wild halo of it so out of keeping with the perfect styling she somehow achieves every morning before work.

It will only occur to him later that he should have kept to present tense.]

[And maybe it will occur to her tomorrow to be bothered by it.]

Maybe I shouldn't have done anything to it.

I'm not complaining.

[The reply is quiet. Maybe he can blame it on the curse, although he at least isn't programmed to dole out compliments at will.

Holding this kind of conversation, however can only be a bad idea.]

I noticed that.

[Her tone isn't quite flirtatious; it verges more on smug, really, which will be more of an embarrassment in hindsight. But for now she's enjoying it.]

[He hasn't complained for years.]

Glad to see your observation skills aren't going to waste.

I just felt like I needed a change this morning.

You didn't. I'm sure whatever you'll pick out will be very nice, but there was nothing you needed to change to... fit an image. I hope you know that much.

If anything I'm trying to break out of an image. The common societal perception that a woman can't be both intelligent and physically attractive is a ridiculous, oppressive construction.

I don't see why I should be embarrassed about choosing to challenge it.

You shouldn't, you just don't need to. You've always been both intelligent and physically attractive.

One tends to make people question the other.

Not anyone worth your time in bothering to impress.

Enjoying approval isn't the same as needing it.

That much I'll grant you.
