I'm aware that yesterday's curse was about the prenups more than the actual marriage, but it still made me wonder:

What are your thoughts on relationships in the City, given that people might leave at any time, or return without memories? Not necessarily romantic relationships only; I'm sure the lack of stability has a similar effect on friendships.

You'd be more miserable here if you tried to shut everyone out just in case they leave. Maybe that doesn't go for everyone but it certainly does for me. Believe me—I tried.

Oh, don't. It's alright. He made me see sense fairly quickly, anyway; I was being stupid and things were better when I wasn't. Harry left anyway, of course, but I reckon I'd have regretted it even more if I never let us be happy for the time we had.

Yeah, we dated for a bit at home. But our lives got pretty busy. That's what made it even better, here—all this extra time without our other responsibilities.

I reckon a lot more people are in that situation than you might think.

It's funny—you'd think the City makes our lives difficult with the curses but... I don't know, I suppose the connections we make are just as hard in the end. Especially if you've been here a while.

The City seems very instable by nature, not just regarding the curses.

Everyone's been asking lately. I doubt you'll make anyone uncomfortable at all. And even if you do, it's just because it's something people don't like to think about. Doesn't mean we don't, though.

It isn't the most pleasant topic to think about.

Doesn't mean it should be ignored. People ignore too much, sometimes.

Sometimes, ignorance really is bliss.

I agree. Though in the wrong hands, too much knowledge does, too. Finding a balance is important.
