[Lena's holding some paperwork in her lap, with the camera set up to film her. And she's totally forgotten to lock this to the intended party.]

Everything here looks pretty good. I mean, it's really common sense: you get your stuff and I get mine. But, um, Pavel? I did have a couple questions.

Under the "unusual circumstances" clause, it says "In the event of a party transforming into an inanimate object, ownership of assets of both parties, communal and individual, shall revert to the unaffected party, and the unaffected party shall ensure the safety of the affected." Do people really turn into inanimate objects here, or is this like a worst-case scenario thing?

And uhh, [and now she squirms a little,] I didn't know you wanted children. Shouldn't we discuss that a little first?

Sensible? I mean... well, kids, that's a big step, and we're still so young.

[The curse also renders logic futile. Of course they can't have children, even if they were to stay married; who stays in the City long enough for that?]

Lena, I should tell you that I will be disappointing as a conversationalist and bringing in far less money than usual.

Oh, don't be an idiot. I wouldn't be marrying you if I didn't enjoy talking to you, and money doesn't matter.

Have you decided what sort of ceremony you would like?

As far as traditions and the like, not really, but I figured you might have some Russian ones you'd want to observe? But I know I want there to be lots of candles lit, and maybe have it outside at night?

There are too many Russian traditions! If my mother and father were to plan a wedding, it would be a week long with broken cups everywhere, and we would be destitute because all of my family's money would be spent on food and drinks. I, personally, am happy with a nighttime ceremony and candles.

Broken cups? Why do you break cups?

[Still, she's smiling because he agrees with her about the other stuff.]

[His smile abruptly becomes unusually shy.]

It is meant to determine how happy the marriage will be. The more pieces that the cups break into, the more years of happiness.

Oh, that sounds sweet! But I'd want a million pieces and you're right, that's far too many cups to break.

A million pieces would be hazardous, as well. My father likes to tell me that, when he and my mother were married, there were so many pieces of glass that they were finding them years later.

Candles will be nice.

And that would put a damper on the happiness if a piece of glass goes into your foot.

I think so too. I can put a Cast on them so they won't blow out if it gets windy out.

Eh, that would be taken in stride. Something so small wouldn't ruin the happiness brought about by favorable predictions.

Thank you. It would be unfortunate if the ceremony had to be performed in the dark.

See, this is why I'm marrying you. Nothing ever gets you down, and you can pull me away from my pity parties.
