My mother was a tree and a needle, as well as being who she was. My father was lightning and a thread. Who am I?

Fire? Fire was one of my first thoughts, but that doesn't help with the needle and thread.

Maybe since it was born from a tree and lightning, it's fireproof.

I thought it was implied in "who am I?" instead of "what am I?" but you're right, I could have been clearer.
