Calibration 52 [accidental video]

[After a week of absense, Garrus awakens in his apartment. The bandage is finally gone from his face, but he still has major scarring.

He sits up and looks around, then sighs.]

Here again. Of course I am.

[He rubs his hands over his face. Probably hard to tell with turians, but he seems even more down than he usually does.]

[OOC: Garrus is all caught up with canon now.]

Hello, Steve.

[punchedhitler]

Are you doing all right?

[officer_garrus]

I'm fine. [Not that he sounds fine.]

[punchedhitler]

You just got back, almost no one is all right when that happens.

[officer_garrus]

[Sigh.] I've experienced a lot in just a short amount of time.

[punchedhitler]

Need to talk it over?

[officer_garrus]

...I guess it wouldn't hurt.

[punchedhitler]

In person?

[officer_garrus]

Sure. How about the park? I could stand to be someplace peaceful for a change.

[punchedhitler]

By the pond.

[Later action;]

[He'll be drinking from a flask when you get here, Steve.]

[punchedhitler]

[Steve kind of wanders up easily, and stands next to Garrus for a minute. It's peaceful out here, without a doubt.]

[officer_garrus]

[He nods at Steve.]

Right. Where to start?

[He takes one last sip from the flask and then puts it away for now.]

[punchedhitler]

It's your story, Garrus.

[ooc: as a note: I do not play Mass Effect so don't worry about spoiling me!]

Right. [Sigh.] Well, my friends and I have known for a while that these giant machines called Reapers would come any day to wipe us all out. When I got back to my world, they finally came for us.

They attackd Earth, they attacked my planet, and at least one race is down to so few members that it's probably the end for them.

[punchedhitler]

[He's quiet for a minute. There aren't enough sorries in the world]

That deserves another drink.

[officer_garrus]

You said it.

[And drink he does.]

My planet was saved, thanks to Shepard negotiating with the krogan to send us reinforcements. My father and sister also made it to safety, thank the spirts. Sadly, we lost a friend in the process.

[punchedhitler]

I'm sorry about your friend.

[But he's glad Garrus' family was safe.]

[officer_garrus]

We lost a lot of good people. I fought alongside some of them, and they helped save the galaxy once before.

We lost one to a Cerberus lacky, and another died helping his people.

[punchedhitler]

Would he have wanted it another way?

[officer_garrus]

I like to think that he wouldn't have.

We then took a bad loss when we were unable to save the asari homeworld and lost crucial data to the same Cerberus lacky. Shepard took it really hard.

[punchedhitler]

You had a hard time.

[officer_garrus]

It was hard seeing her like that. Up until then she seemed almost invincible, like she could do anything, and failure was impossible for her.

[punchedhitler]

Don't I know how that is.

[officer_garrus]

We did manage to get the data back and kill the bastard.

We were building a superweapon, you see, one that a previous race left behind that could potentially destroy the Reapers. Turns out the Citadel - that is, the space station that's the center of galactic government - was the key.

[punchedhitler]

And it worked?

[officer_garrus]

We had to take the fight to Earth, and confront them head on. Shepard and I... we shared a few words before charging in.

But I was hurt while making a run for a relay that would take us to the Citadel, and Shepard forced me onto a shuttle back to the Normandy. She went on alone. I know she activated the weapon, but...

[punchedhitler]

A suicide mission.

[officer_garrus]

We crash landed on a remote world, and during all that time we were making repairs, we didn't get one message from her.

And so are we.

[punchedhitler]

Maybe your devices were malfunctioning. Or hers.

[officer_garrus]

That's what I want to believe. But I think I'm just going to have to face facts. She's gone, and she's never coming back.

[officer_garrus]

But did you just go to hell and back?

[punchedhitler]

It's a hard thing to admit.

[officer_garrus]

And even if she is still alive, I'm probably going to be trapped in this damned world for the rest of my life.
