How odd.

I was told this wasn't unlike a phone at first—but it's closer to a record, isn't it? There's quite a lot of information archived if you're willing to look back so far. I wonder if there's a quicker way to search through it as well. . .

Ah, I'm straying from my own question. I meant to ask—has anyone got a book recommendation or two they could make for the local library? For a younger audience, of an unfinished education—mmm, and a rather impatient temper. He's particularly fond of adventures.

What kind of ways?

[ He isn't even playing at being patient. Doesn't care about hiding his curiosity on this subject behind other questions. ]

There's the properly dead, for one. . . who lose pulse and warmth and living needs—but not the memory of how they died.

[ No, that can't be it. If Elliot had remembered, things would have been different. ]

What of the other kinds?

[ subtle, Leo—but look at all the things Vincent's learned! ]

The kind with a time discrepancy?

[ He knows little of subtlety and less of how to use this thing properly. ]

[ an inaudible siiiiiiiiiiigh. how do you even fail to pick up on a filter, it's like right there. ]

[ He doesn't use this as much as you do, Vincent. ]

[ it takes Vincent, in fact, some twenty minutes to make his way back—not everybody stays in the flat all day, okay. also, outdoor naps are healthy.

[ He leaves sometimes. Just not as much as he maybe should. And at least he's walking to the door himself, opening it.

He won't even say anything about Vincent taking so long to get here. ]

Isn't that the answer you were asking. . . ? They're capable of a great deal, here, including the ability to draw people out of the past.

[ He didn't even realize that was possible. ]

[ he could be gentle, he could be ... kind. he could bring Leo's hopes up for a pretense of normality - ]
