[The cashier looks so obviously concerned about Angela's raging sweet tooth that he's not quite prepared for what comes next. As soon as he hands the paper bag over the counter, Angela's leaning towards him to lay a fat juicy smooch right on his lips before calmly dropping her change into his tip jar. Mmm, pastries. Definitely a victory.]

Given that experience, I can see why you think that the current curse is laughable at best.

I wish I was. I got to go home a couple of times, but it seems this place likes me just a little too much to let me stay there.

I had no idea that could happen. Something else to worry about, I suppose.

It does, but not willingly. It's when you least expect it.

Does that happen to everyone?

No, not everyone. I'm not sure why it happens to others and not some people. Luck, maybe. Some get to leave and stay home permanently, others leave and come back without remembering anything about their previous stay, others, like me, leave and come back remembering everything that happened here. The only common theme is that we all forget the City when we're back in our own homes.

Luck? Perhaps... but is it luckier to go away and come back to this awful place, even if one doesn't remember it when they're at home? And do we really know that those who leave stay home? Could they not be somewhere else? Somewhere... worse?

I never said it was good luck. And they do go home. I know this for a fact. They go back to wherever they came from, even if home meant wherever they were because they were dead.

People come here after being dead?

Yes. Some people here are dead. You won't notice unless you touch them or they say so.
