I wouldn't say I'm equipped to deal with freak weather conditions, but I've spent half my life living with the seasons running backwards, and back home the houses used to spray snow scenes in their windows in midsummer.

It's nice to feel seasonal for once. The blizzard's dying off. Anyone else up for checking out the slopes?

Oh, shut it, Chase. I know that, I've just never given time differences very much thought apart from when I've been to Romania and Egypt.

The earth is round and it spins while it rotates the sun. try making a fist with your thumb wrapped across the front. You thumbnail is London, the back of your knuckles is Oz. The light from one fixed point can't reach both those places at the same time, so the earth spins, and we get our daylight while you move into the dark. The earth is also tilted on it's axis. Half the world gets summer while that hemisphere's tilted closer to the sun, and then the rest gets it's turn.

Does it snow when it's our summer, then? And you've got warm Christmases?

[She's fascinated, deapite herself. There had never been very much need to talk about that sort of thing at Hogwarts, it's true, except maybe Astronomy or what she's heard of reading star charts in Divination.]

Constellations are different, too, right?

Australia's a bigger place than Britain, some parts of it are cold most of the time and some of them are tropical. But for the most part, yes. Snow in June, bikinis at Christmas.

Different set of stars entirely.

Astronomy isn't my favourite class, but I'd be interested in a look at the night sky, all the same. That's sort of cool.

What's your part of Australia like?

The first star you learn to look for when you're a kid is the Southern Cross. Never completely got used to finding the Big Dipper instead.

Climate wise, Melbourne's not too far off what you're used to. A few degrees warmer, summer and winter.

D'you miss it? Australia.

It's been a long time.

You don't visit?

Honeymooned there. Before that, not for a few years.

It's been a long time since it's been home.

I think it'll always be home in it's way. Sometimes I wonder if Bill thinks Egypt's more home than England, anymore, even if he did come back. Or Charlie—he's been in Romania forever, he only visits once in a really long while.

If they still visit when they're back, it's still home. When I go back it's more a case of what I can avoid.

Why?

It's better that way.

I don't know if it's better to avoid home.

I mean, we're here, but it isn't our choice.

Home isn't always our choice either. Trust me, there are enough people who'd rather not see me. Better to stay away.

Obviously not anymore but he didn't speak to us for a few years. Maybe it's because that's what he thought.

Being upset at someone doesn't equate to not caring about them. Usually, the opposite applies.

Loads of things. The parsnip was for leaving in the first place and just showing up like it was alright again. But he brought the Prime Minister too and that wasn't on, either, and there are too many reasons to explain why. It was in the middle of Christmas lunch!

Well I'd bring the Prime Minister to meet my sister, but I have no idea whether she's a Republican or not.
