Can someone tell me if anyone knows how people arriving here works? I know we get pulled here, but does anyone know why sometimes people come in from the same universe all at once?

[Steve gets up from where he's sitting, and crosses his arms, because he can't talk about this. About the potential for Bucky to get hurt]

[ An eyebrow arches. ]

You really have a problem with me helping out, don't you?

It isn't about you helping, Bucky.

I can't have you getting hurt.

[He admits this like he's a little ashamed of the feeling]

[ He holds his tongue for a moment. It's not Steve's fault, and he understands the feeling, but -. ]

I can't sit by.

I know that. If anyone knows that, it's me.

[He's almost snapping]

[ Frowning at him. ]

Then you'll know why I ain't backing down.

I can't lose you to this, Bucky. Do you understand that?

[He's terrified of it. He trusts Bucky but Phil died and Steve fought him and he knows.]

[ Breathing out heavily. ]

Yeah. Y'know I do, I understand, but I'm still -. [ Useful. ]

It doesn't matter. I don't want to talk about it.

[ The threat is here so Bucky will deal with it, but there's no denying that Bucky's not going to be there for him.

It makes him sick. ]

[ Mouth twisting. ] Because I'm not - I'm still me. You don't get to change that.

[His fear is thumping in his chest, and he hates saying these things, he does, it's not fair and he knows it's not fair]

[ Bucky pushes off from where he's leaning. ]

The way I see it, it's still the same thing.

[Steve reaches for him]

[ He takes a step back before he even realises it, then flexes his hand, stops himself. ]

[Steve recoils, gathers himself up, tightens his back.]

All right.

[ He doesn't say anything for a moment. This is awful, this doesn't feel right at all. ]
