[ Pepper's voice sounds frantic as it rushes past the device, which has been left on some surface or another. ]

Oh my god, oh my god, how did—? But my heart is fine, I swear it is. But then if I've got— then that means... oh god Tony.

[ The sound of drawers being slammed shut and closets being flung open stops suddenly with a 'clang'. ]

No way. No. Way. No way! Whenever he hinted, I always told him there was no way I'd let him put me in one of these things, but... well now that I look at it, it doesn't seem so bad. JARVIS?

Yes, Ms. Potts?

Is... is this one for me?

It seems to be built to your specifications. Would you like to put it on and test the fit?

Mr. Stark's arc reactor is functioning normally. It would appear that the one in your chest has spontaneously appeared, independent of Mr. Stark's.

Good. That's good. In that case, I guess it wouldn't hurt to just try it on.

[ There is the sound of metallic shifting and a few scattered gasps and giggles from Pepper. The noise subsides, fading into two final 'cthunks' that sound like heavy boots stepping off of a platform. ]

Oh. [ Pepper's voice sounds mechanical and somewhat muffled. ] Oh I like this.

[ The recording ends with repulsor engines powering up, and what sounds like some substantial property damage. ]

[ Pepper grins inside her helmet as JARVIS automatically connects her to the call. ]

That had to have been exciting and a bit frightening to wake up to.

You're damn right it was. At first I kept trying to tell Tony to get out of my face or cover it up, but then I open my eyes and it's me!

Flying, though. Oh god flying makes up for all of it.

[ Pepper gets knocked a bit off balance by the video popping up on the HUD, and swerves around a tree just in time to avoid hitting it. ] God, Serrure, you startled me!

[ Once she rights herself, she takes a closer look at the face in the video. ]

Yeah, it-- I'm sorry, I thought you were... Serrure is that you? [ The City turned Tony into an 8 year old once, it could turn little Serrure into... not-so-little Serrure, right? Maybe? That or she's hearing things. ]

I have a lot to be flustered by. What do you mean "was"? Are you Serrure or not? Because I'd feel really awkward if I'm being so embarrassingly flustered in front of a complete and total stranger.

[ Shit. She hadn't realized she was being recorded. She knew Tony kept reactor technology a closely guarded secret back home, and she wasn't sure if the same went here. Still, she's not about to go into detail with a stranger. Even if his voice does sound vaguely familiar... ]

It doesn't do anything to your heart. The two are unrelated.

[ Ah, but something had prevented the tesseract's magic from affecting Stark. There had been more than flesh beneath that surface. Now, perhaps, he understands why. ]

I am curious, then, why you asserted that your heart was working. Why would an arc reactor make a question of that?

They are. Two separate concerns. First the reactor, then the heart. Two different things.

[ She's well aware this sounds like bullshit, but she's hoping she can tread water long enough to think of something more plausible. ]

Feel good! Strange, and slightly terrified, but good. The foreign object in my chest is probably something to be incredibly worried about, but the adrenaline rush of flying kind of drowns it out.
