[Video]

[A dripping wet teenager emerges from the fountain, clutching the video. The feathers on the headband are drooping and his hair is plastered about his face but he seems more concerned about the red cape which he is trying to wring out with one hand.]

Hi whoever is out there. I'm Billy. Please tell me you missed that dramatic entrance via the fountain, because I'd like to go back and do it again with some added sparkles and billowing cape rather than drowned hobbit look. I'm not short enough to be a hobbit honestly!

[There is a pause in the babbling as he looks around.]

Okay, so this doesn't look like home, or Asgard...please tell me this is place that's heard of the Young Avengers? Or at least of a guy called Teddy, he's blonde and got really cool earrings.

Failing that the Avengers?

[This face is very hopeful because he can't picture a world without them. And if he has managed to land in a different world which would be really cool, he'd rather not do it alone.]

[ Well, he can certainly help Billy with one of those questions. It doesn't take him long, he doesn't even bother to respond on the video, just shifts immediately and flies to the fountain.

It's faster.

It's been days.

He lands with a thump just in front of his boyfriend, relief coursing through his veins and he doesn't even say anything until he's got him in his arms, water seeping into his clothes. ]

[It takes a moment to recognise him but Billy's seen the trading cards. He even owns a more recent replica set....wait has been sent back in time? No the place didn't look old. Captain America looked young. This is exciting.

And he doesn't know him. Which might be a good thing in some ways.]

Hello Mr Rogers. I'm Billy. I'm one of the next generation of Avengers.

[Drop that on him quickly and get it out of the way!]

Where are we?

Son, aren't you a bit young?

[He looks like he should be gathering scrap metal for the effort okay.]

This is the City.

[It's only been hours since Billy last saw Teddy but it's relief to see him. This new place can't be so bad of Teddy's here.

It doesn't seem fair though that Teddy was the dry one to begin with!]

Teddy! [Billy's arms tighten around his neck as he feels the tension in Teddy's body.] Hey it's okay. I'm here and there isn't a scratch on me.

Are you okay? Why weren't you in the fountain with me? We could both have been wet then.

If you'd have turned up days ago, I would've been. [ He just squeezes tighter, because hey, strange happenings, new city. Eli had vanished and Teddy had no idea what to do about it. He'd missed him. So much. ]

It was totally a Limbo moment, only without the sand.

No, I'm older than some of the mutants that the X-men let fight.

[Please don't try to stop him here Cap. He's seen and done too much to sit back and do nothing. He's already tried that...and that didn't work too well.]

Oh okay... is there an Avenger's Tower here?

How old are you?

[Doubt.]

Do you mean Stark Tower?

Days?! [Billy finds Teddy's eyes and he doesn't mind that the air is been squeezed right out of his lungs] No, but I saw you like an hour ago!

You shouldn't have been stuck here without me. Has anyone tried to hurt you?

[Because something bad usually happens when they are separated.]

It was Sunday, that was like five days ago. [ He doesn't care, it's probably science-y and inexplicable and he doesn't want to even try because Billy is here and safe and whole and Teddy can relax again. ]

I'm fine, it's not a bad place, I've been okay. Just missing you.

I'm nearly seventeen.

[Billy puffs his chest out slightly to appear bigger and older.]

I guess? You don't live together then?

...you came to a world where there was no me.

[And that..five days is far too long. Billy leans up and kisses him to try and make up for each of those and hours where he couldn't kiss him.]

[ Hands settling at his waist to pull him closer, mouth pressed against Billy's. It's been too long, he's hated every second, worried for him, waiting for him.

With a slight laugh. ] I feel like we should have soft violin music playing in the background, maybe a wind machine.

[Billy grins up.] And a rainbow appearing in the sky? I could make it happen once I dry myself out? We haven't tried it before!

Or is it a bad idea to do too much magic in the open here?

[This gives him a second of anxiety, he likes to know where things stand.]

I don't know, I don't think so. [ Then he grins. ] I have so much to tell you about this place though, you won't believe who I've met, it's awesome.

[ Curling their fingers together. ] I'm really glad you're here.

Tell me all about them! Is it people I will guess, is it people from home we've always wanted to meet like George Clooney?

[Billy smiles down at their joined hands. Anything seems possible when they are like this. Softly,] me too. Even new places can't keep us apart.

Come on, I'll tell you on the way. I had to get a place, they told me at the welcome center that I wouldn't get back out and that I was to just find somewhere and hope for the best. [ He sounds doubtful, but it's nowhere as bad as he was when he wasn't with Billy. ] Eli was here and he left, but they told me about visitor day and how it works, only I was stuck.

[ Pause. ] And none of this makes sense, I know, but it's really weird here and I don't know how to explain it.

...you couldn't get out but Eli vanished? [Billy repeats and his mood dips as he sounds troubled.]

T...that isn't good. What if something has happened to him?

[He squeezes Teddy's fingers tighter, drawing comfort from them.]

Let's get back to you...our place before you vanish too.

[ Pressing into Billy's side once before he starts moving, keeps his hand wrapped around his. ] If we walk, I can show you around first. And Eli's okay, it happens, people just go home. I'll figure out where to start eventually, but we're fine.

[ He'd fight the deities if they took Billy, he doesn't care about the horror stories, he'd take them down. ] Okay, so this place is called The City, not original at all.

Okay, so we are saving the aerial tour for night time? [Which would be romantic and he can focus on things like that if Eli is safe. He trusts Teddy to tell him the truth about this.]

I hope he's okay at home.

[It's important. He doesn't want to lose someone else.]

Are sure it isn't short for something like Cupcake Icecream Toffee Yarmouth?

Yeah, later. He was - not fine, nobody's fine anymore, but it was nice seeing him again. We talked.

[ And that makes Teddy laugh, a slow, quiet thing that cheers him up especially. He's missed this. ]

No, it would be something like Certainly Irritating Terrible - what starts with y? I've just got yams.

[Billy runs this thumb over Teddy's hand. No they weren't fine. But they had each other, they all did. They all needed each other.]

I'm glad...I hope he remembers it at home.

[He pauses as he considers the ys.]

All I've got is a yoyo.

Yellow. Yahtzee. Yemen. [ None of these work, but it's still a lot less difficult to focus on this than anything else. He has Billy now, he has hope even while being stuck in here. ] Either way, this place doesn't seem all that great. Yesterday everyone exploded in fireworks.

[ He was uncursed, but it was still super weird. ]

We can work on it tonight over pizza. Please tell me this place has pizza?

[What if people turned into fireworks in place of pizza?]

Was anyone hurt? And if not were the fireworks good?

There's pizza. [ He's been living off of it. ] No, they just fireworked it up when they got angry. I don't think that's what America wanted when they started Independence, but I'm not sure.

The places have curses. And deities. Not the fun, Asgardian kinds either. [ Even though some of them weren't exactly fun. ]
