[ 75th consult | voice / action ]

[Wilson's going about his business as usual today, because honestly this sort of day just doesn't faze him anymore. Aspects of it can be irritating, disconcerting, or even dangerous, but not nearly any more so than most other curses. So he's stopped at an admittedly crowded cafe near the hospital after leaving, coffee and a sandwich before him while he looks over a patient file. After making a few notes, he puts the file down to make the following audio post to the network - ]

I learned, several of... these back [ - because the populace doesn't really have a concise term for them - ], that there isn't really much point in trying to avoid the masses. Besides, if you do that, you're likely to have missed out on an opportunity to speak to people you would have been happy to see - faces from home, those who have left the City, even those who only visit on these days but do so with enough regularity to have developed personal connections.

So, as a curse, this isn't inherently good or bad. It has the potential to be either - or both, but it's the people who come, the interactions we have, that make it what it is. In a way, that makes it not entirely unlike any other day - there are just a lot more faces than usual.

[And out. He's going to finish his sandwich now, thanks.]

[ooc: COME AND GET HIM. Open to either Network or Action; hit him up at the cafe or after he leaves. I only ask for no doubles of House cast without permission annnnd that is all. He's from late season 3 but can forget whatever he needs to and has already been spoiled on his own future a bit XD]

[she nods at his words] I'm going to take a few science classes to see if I like the idea of med school. You know, that's your fault. I'd have never thought about med school before knowing you.

So hiding is probably the wrong way to deal with this, huh...

You mind giving me the shorthand explanation of where the hell I am?

If someone's hard to lose, they've been worth knowing. Who knows that better than the only man in the world who gets thanks for telling people what they're going to lose.

[There's a wash of something so wistful through her - but she shakes it, regains composure before it's even lost. It's not who she's choosing to be, not for this bonus round.]

I like the idea of this weekend being a chance to make a lasting change.

[A thick pamphlet is coming out of her purse at this point.]

So I picked you up a catalogue.

James? That must be you.

[There's more than one person with the right voice, but so far only one that sounds like him.]

So...if I saw anyone I know, then I should be prepare for them to leave at the end.

[He's almost glad he didn't see anyone from home, in that case.]

Isn't it hard to let them go? Especially when it may have been a while since you've last seen someone from home, or someone you know?

[It's a homewares catalogue. Amber has a page folded over in the refrigerator section.]

Do you like the aluminum finish or the white? White would match the other appliances, but aluminum has carton storage in this section at the bottom.

Oh, thank God. Finally, someone remotely sane.

[smiles are awesome, Wilson. She's glad House hasn't taken them all away from you]

I think a good meal for a starving college student would work just fine.

Were you overwhelmed the first time this happened? It's pretty surreal. And I haven't exactly avoided the person I'd like to avoid most, but he lives here. I wish I'd've known that before I called him a jerkface.
anunluckypenny: [rapture inside of me] (Awed)

[personal profile] anunluckypenny 2012-01-31 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Dangerous? What happened?

I'd hope I'm not, but he's a hero and perfect and everything. That kind of makes him the opposite of a jerkface, whatever that is.
scamminbuffers: (oh you~)

I'm grateful then. Nashville has some great food, but I can't afford most of it.

I spoke to Greg.

It would irritate him.

[This explanation is serene considering it's essentially code for payback for irritating you.]

He likes having things his way, that's no reason to make it easy for him. How long have you lived in that apartment, paying your half of the rent? And how much of what's inside has been your choice?

[She offers him the catalogue.]

There are solutions for every living area. If you see anything you like we could have it delivered before he gets home.
