This even they are calling Visitor Day, I take it to be a frequent thing?

I do not find it to be such a reason for joy, if the guests come and go, and we remain here nevertheless. Am I alone in feeling like some bauble on display? Come see, come see.

[And soon, not without a certain level of hesitance and wonder, Sif arrives near the fountain. This woman, of whom Thor has told her so many times, who seems to matter to him so much - how much time did they have, she wonders, and how brilliant must she have been? - what if she doesn't like Sif?

It's a weird question to make herself, surely, but as Thor's friend, she thinks she should be entitled to...getting along. With his more lasting conquests.

Though she realizes something else, when she arrives.]

[ Jane's nervous as well and for much the same reasons— she's had little contact with Sif before and Sif is clearly someone important in Thor's life.

She wants to get along with her, for all that Sif is... a little intimidating, maybe.

[Gives the woman a tentative smile. She looks pretty.] A pleasure to meet you at last.

And to meet you again. [ Smiling back, not quite awkwardly but not that easily, either, trying to match Sif's pattern of speech at least to some extent. ]

It must be odd. I apologize for not being able to remember you, although according to the people in this place, I will - when I get returned back to where I had to be.

It's a little strange, yeah, but this place seems quite strange all things considered. I'd love to learn more about it.

I can offer whatever answers I am able to give. Ask away.

How do people get here? How do they leave? How can the difference in times be explained?

It can all be brought down to the Deities. They are said to control this place, though I often suspect the power behind the arrivals and departures does not always come from them. Nevertheless, they are the ones generally blamed.

We get pulled here, simply put. From whichever point in our life the City's sense of humour sees fit. Time for us, just us, apparently stops. It resumes when we return home, but as for how we return...I confess not to know yet.

Deities? [ That is interesting, especially considering the whole thing with Thor and Asgard in general. ] Did you know your people were worshipped as deities originally when you first came to Earth-- Midgard?

[She grins a little.] Yes, I do know.

Perhaps it's a little like that with the Deities here.

No. We do not tend to snap our fingers and curse people.

They are different, to say the least. But if it is as you suggest, then they are defeatable.

I think maybe what we call gods or deities- at least humans, I don't know, do you worship gods? - could just generally be beings more advanced than us.

You would show respect to being more advanced than you - correct?

That depends on how they'd treat me, I think.

There is a difference between worship as a deity and respect, though, isn't there?

It is a little annoying that they get to leave, from what I've heard other people say.

I find it more insulting that we do not.

And what would you have proposed I do? Stand by while you transformed into this...this unfeeling wall before my very eyes?

I love Thor the best, yet I will let him rot between the humans while I am King. Is that it?

Unfeeling? The realm was on the brink of war mainly due to Thor's brash actions. He was banished for a reason, yet all you and the others could do was fret over him. Rather than keeping your oaths to protect the realm.

He was far from rotting, Sif. I hardly think three days on Midgard was such a dire situation for him.

He would have helped. But it is as you say - the realm was on the brink of war. What I did, I did to protect it.

Though you may not see it so.

Helped how? By acting brashly again and making a precarious situation even worse?

Why not just admit your true feelings, Sif? You, my so called friend had no faith in me or my ability to protect the realm. Is that not the simple truth of the matter?

I had no faith in the realm to listen to just a new king. One who seemed so distraught and - [Cray cray. But she stops. Doesn't say. That might be mean, but let's not forget who aimed to kill first.]

I would not see Asgard burned under some sibling jealousy.

You have just surrounded yourself by so many of them, shrouded yourself with some many of them, that you have lost the ability to hear the truth.
