Entry 572; Day 1289

So we're being inundated with these 'tourists' again, it seems. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. They do seem to come rather more often in the summer, though. Perhaps it's a holiday for them.
As ever, I never manage to do as I say--to keep to myself, well inside, away from the windows and the Network, and all the rest. It never seems to work entirely, if only because it's rather difficult to keep away from all windows and it does become rather tedious. To say nothing of the fact that there are a few people who seem quite capable of coming into the opera house as they please, despite all our efforts to the contrary. And I don't think warning them about He-Who-Kills will do any good either.
I shall, however, keep a close watch for Merry. I haven't much hope or wish for anyone else from my world to pay me a call. Although I do recall that my uncle came for a visit one year. And there was a young man who seemed strikingly familiar but whom I'm sure I didn't know.
Although, there are yet others who seem to come into the City on days like this whom I should still like to see, even if I may not quite hope for it as I did with Riff and now with Merry so long ago and so often.
The little clutch of girls is back under my window, as I knew they would be. I think I'd be rather disappointed if they weren't there. It's still rather flattering. You would think they'd have grown tired of me by now, but perhaps that's the way time works in and out of the City. I shall be tossing them letters again this time, and I do hope they see this on the Network so that they'll be able to catch them. It would be a shame to have them fall to the ground unheeded.
I may even go out this afternoon. It's quite time I tried something a little different in all this madness. And I've seen all of this more times that I think many have. As I said, I wasn't here in the City for a week before it happened to me for the first time.
And, yes, exciting as it always is at first, I know I'll be quite exhausted after a few moments of it. But these tourists certainly won't mind or care. They really can be rather like insects in the way they can find their way into anywhere or anything.
So I think I shall be a fool today and show my face after all. But at least I'm quite aware of my own foolishness. And perhaps there's something clever in that.
Welcome to the City, I suppose.
Though why anyone would visit the City, I shall never understand.

That is, I'm following someone, and I think her footsteps led, er, here.

[A PAUSE. Given the way the women are flocking to this guy's balcony, he probably legit knows every girl in this place. Might not be such a bad place to start, looking for information. Buck up, Gwydion, time's ticking.]
I wonder if perhaps you might have seen her, sir.

[This is so awkward, how does he do interpersonal communication]

...Sir, by any chance is there an oracle somewhere in this fair city?

What of wizards? Does one live here?
no subject
I'm sure there are two or three of those but I'm not so well acquainted with them, I'm afraid.
no subject
Then sir, I would ask only one more question of you, and that is to please tell me how far this land may be from the shores of the land of Daventry.
no subject
Daventry, did you say?
no subject

I've met someone from that country before, though. As such, may I ask your name?
no subject
It's Gwyd--
[Wait. No, it's not. Not anymore. Wow, he's really terrible at this.]
--It's Alexander. My name is Alexander of Daventry.
[The "prince" part is still a little too weird.]
no subject
Sir, I believe I am acquainted with your sister.
no subject
I never said she was my sist--
[WELL, THEN.]
You've seen Rosella?
no subject
I have, yes, though not yet today. I know she's here in the City, though--and she is well, since I suspect that will be your next question.
no subject
[Apparently that kind of thing runs in the family.]
Do you know how I might find her?
no subject
no subject
[That does not precisely add up with being "well", good sir. SUDDENLY SUSPICIOUS BROTHER IS SUSPICIOUS.]
What is she doing in there?
