Apparently I was some full blown Native American and went around speaking broken English and trying to hide that I was a female so the scary Western men wouldn't take advantage.

It's weird, I remember this whole other life where the tribe came down with some illness and a traveling doctor - who happened to be one of The Doctor's helped us, but I didn't get well soon enough so I was left behind.

I found him to thank him and I got a job with this other doctor guy who was really wonderful to the poor creature I was.

I was like kind of all the old Indian stereotypes ever.

That came out all wrong. I mean, I was me in the ways that matter, just... with a seriously questionable job and a really cute outfit.

You're too much. 'Seriously questionable job'. Bet you still had the same heart of gold. Did you manage to charge anyone? Or did you just feel bad for them all?

I mean, in your memories of being that person, of course.

I don't know about a heart of gold, but it was mostly pretty nice. Even cowboys're sweet once you start listening to them.

Well, I had to make a living, I guess, but I think I was the cheapest hooker in town. Wait, no--that sounds awful, too. Not cheap, just... you know. There's no way I can talk about this without everything coming out terrible, is there?

As far as curses go, though? That didn't seem too bad.

A little embarrassing in retrospect, but everyone was very kind to me.

Well, we're all in the same boat. If you weren't cursed this time, you probably will be the next time, so it doesn't make sense to be judgemental about what happens.

I don't think we have either, but it's not a problem. Shame most of the horses didn't stick around, though. [ And his accent is much less thick now that he's not cursed. ]

The horses were amazing. They don't always like me - given what I am - so it was... truly incredible.

And I would still love to buy you a drink sometime.

Well, I'm not one to turn down a drink. [ Pause. ] Though I'm guessin', uh, "Little Wolf" isn't your actual name?

[There's a long breath here before she responds. She doesn't have to keep it hidden here, but she's still never sure how people will respond.]

I am a walker. I shift into a coyote. Which is where the 'Little Wolf' comes from. When you're raised by and live around werewolves - well, let's just say it's at best a joke of a nickname and at worst a derogatory comment.

Heaven only knows why the City had me going around telling everyone it was my name.

Nope, I'm good anywhere, though I do admit a preference for being a ways out of the hustle and bustle if possible.

Absolutely.

[ Action! McCoy will be waiting for Mercy inside the Blue Light, tucked a bit out of the way. He doesn't have a drink yet, though he does have his medkit with him. ]

[Mercy arrived shortly thereafter, dressed in one of the new outfits Cinna had put together for her before he left. Nothing too showy, just black jeans with a sleek top. She smiled when she saw McCoy and made her way over, sliding easily into a seat.]

Hi. It's nice to see you when we're both actually ourselves.

Believe me, I'll drink to that.

[ There's a bit of a chuckle. ]

Though I've been told I'm a grumpy bastard [ because you are, Bones ] so you might change your mind.

[She couldn't help but laugh.]

Trust me, when you've been raised by werewolves? It would take a lot for me to think you were uncommonly grumpy. They kind of hold the monopoly on that.

Not sure I've ever met a werewolf. Not a whole lot of the magic thing back where I'm from.

I'd say you're not missing much, but they are pretty remarkable creatures.

[She smiled as her mind drifted off into memories a little.]

As a doctor - at least I'm assuming you're actually a doctor - you'd probably love to be able to examine one. But they're definitely irritable and quick to anger. Pretty violent a lot of the time.

I'm actually a doctor. Chief Medical Officer on the Enterprise, back home, and a doctor in the hospital here in the City.

I've examined a lot of non-humans. We've got alien species, back where I'm from -- when I'm from, guess that'd be more accurate.

[coyote_walking]

So there really are aliens? Did they just sort of, I don't know, land one day?

[She smiled at him.]

It sounds like an amazing time to live in.

[mintjulep]

[ McCoy chuckles. ] More or less, yeah.

Amazing in some ways, not so much in others. It's 2258 when I'm from.

[coyote_walking]

[She blinked at that, then smiled.]

22- wow. That's about 250 years in my future.

Of course, it's probably not even the same exact earth. Unless the Fae and werewolves are out where you come from?

[She shuckled a little to herself.]

Or they may not even exist at all.
