Well...uhm. I think the hats are very interesting?
But I'm not sure why so many men seem taken to wearing them. Is this a curse? Wearing a hat? It's better than sparkling, I supposed...

You would do that? That would be good, thank you. I think that I am charged unfairly, sometimes, because the shopkeepers know I will not argue.

[Lesson time, it seems!] For example, hatters don't negotiate - hard work is put into every hat, and they are usually works of art, too, so every one has the price they deserve. Ideally, anyway. But when you're buying groceries at the market, for example, and you buy in large quantities, you could haggle for a small reduction in the final price. Round it up, you know? Same goes for fabric.
But what you need are, I imagine, quality boots and gloves, so if we find them - you pay what they're worth. They'll last you long, after all.

When I worked in my father's shop, we had this strategy, see - first two hats you brough out for a client were more expensive than what they could afford, and didn't fit them. Although they were good hats, and they were definitely worth their price, but the point was to make the client fall in love with the third one you showed them, basically. The point here is, if they use that strategy on you, it's normal - but if they're good looking boots that are overpriced, I'd start to suspect.

Miss Sophie, I believe now that purchasing boots is beyond my capabilities. I was not told before today that buying is an art.
