Such a Perfect Day [Open]

[Neil is having a cigarette, which isn't unusual. He's also naked from the waist up, which also isn't unusual. He is not, thank goodness, covered in glitter, nor are there bows in his hair. He's moving around, apparently tidying his apartment, so his image and voice are sometimes close to the device and sometimes off-screen.]

So... Father's Day. Didn't mean a thing to me.

[He crosses the screen's range in the distance, cigarette between his lips, picking up what appears to be clothing from the floor and is probably laundry.]

Never knew my sperm donor and don't want to.

[He disappears, then reappears crossing very close to the screen and the City is graced with a view of abdominals before he walks away again.]

Don't even know what he looked like...

My people are all dead, and apparently the ghosts weren't interested in a visit.

What? Your people...? Are you tribal or something? What happened?

[leathered]

I'm not human. My planet is gone. There was a war.

[skintoskin]

Sorry to hear... about the war, but...

Are you sure they're all gone?

[leathered]

They were erased from time itself.

So yes.

How does something like that happen?

[leathered]

It was a Time War, the last great Time War, and they've all been forgotten, locked away outside the timestream. Except for me.

[skintoskin]

[This face again...]

Wait... Are you one of the Doctors, like, with a capital 'D'?

[leathered]

[ The Doctor provides a grin. He'd like to change the subject, yep. ] That's me. One of me, anyway. I suppose you've met one of my other selves?

[skintoskin]

I think I've seen them... him... whatever on the network, but I've never met one.

I used to hang out with Amy and I've met Rose on the network...

[leathered]

We get around a bit, yeah.

I was traveling with Rose before I came here to the City. She's later in her timeline than me, traveling with the Doctor after. And Amy was traveling with the one after that. Always good to have a sense of timelines.

[skintoskin]

Uh, yeah...

How do you keep track of it all, though? And why are there so many of you?

[leathered]

Well, keeping track of it is my job. Technically not supposed to run into myself, but nothing's exploded yet, and no one's gotten very bruised. [ Except that one time. Well. ] Don't know why the City's decided it needs three Doctors. Nothing ever seems quite reasonable here.

This place isn't anywhere near 'reasonable', on any map, Doc.

[leathered]

Well, there's reasonable, and unreasonable, and against all known laws of time and space, if you get my drift.

[skintoskin]

Uh, not sure that I do. Can you try that again, Doc, in a sentence that has... one subject at a time or something?

[leathered]

Lots of stuff going on here that's against all the laws I know of time and space. And my people enforced those laws, so I know them pretty well. I'm always pleased to see the sun rise in the morning, instead of explode.

Okay, still being alive to see the sun rise, sure. I get that. And yeah, this place is just... weird.
