[ The feed starts with a crash, a high pitched noise that sounds like a buzz, and then someone's breathing. ]

Wanda, no. [ Next come the flapping of wings and the soft coo of a bird. The Doctor is pretty much flailing around trying to scare them off, at least nobody can see this. ] Just because it's father's day doesn't mean I want a bloody corpse as a present. I'm quite happy with a cup of tea.

[ Pause, indignant sounds of a cat mewling as she's picked up. ] Bit tricky for your paws, how about I make it?

The only ghostly shadows I see are the ones Wanda has cut down in her bid for domination.

[ Pouting. ] But she's so soft and fluffy.

[waitedforyears]

So's the monsters on that one planet, what's it called. The ones that tried to eat me.

[wearafeznow]

That's not the same.

[ Holding Wanda beneath his chin. ]

[waitedforyears]

I know. Best she can do is chew on my fingers.

[wearafeznow]

[ He's grinning at her softly, Wanda chewing at his bowtie. ]

She wouldn't do that, would you, Wanda? You would never chew on Amelia. You like her.

[waitedforyears]

[ Stop that, Doctor. That soft grin only reminds her of the high school curse. She can't really help but smile back. ]

Does she?

[wearafeznow]

Of course she does.

[ Ah, high school. He still thinks Rory will sneak up one day soon and shout at him. ]

You're her favourite.

[waitedforyears]

I thought that'd be you.

[ She misses Rory. She also misses— a lot of things, actually. Sex, closeness, intimacy. ]

[wearafeznow]

[ He's silent for a moment, thinking too hard. ]

You're all right, aren't you Pond?

[waitedforyears]

I— [No one's really asked her that outright, lately. ] No. Yes. I'm fine. Or I will be, maybe.

[wearafeznow]

You know I'm here. [ Rocking back on his heels. ] If you need to talk about anything.

[waitedforyears]

Yeah. I know.

[ Looking away. This probably isn't anything he wants to talk about, though. He used to call Rory when she was 'having an emotion'. He's a bloke and a sometimes socially awkward one and how can she tell him that she misses her husband and sex and intimacy and that the closest she's come to intimacy was with him during the high school curse.

Sex, too, then, come to think of it, but that wasn't with him. ]

C'mon then, Pond. Let's do something. Just you and me, let's go exploring.

[ Because he can't show her the universe anymore, and he hates that, wants it back. Impressing Amelia Pond was his lifeline, once upon a time. ]

[ She nods, and the smile when it comes isn't completely forced. ] Can we go to the beach? Maybe get a boat. Can you sail?

I can learn. [ He puts Wanda down in her basket, pets her head, and then he's grabbing his tweed jacket off the back of the nearest chair and smiling at her, turning around on the spot. ]

We can both learn. A sailing adventure, sounds just about right, doesn't it?

Let's go sailing. [ Linking her arm through his and pushing the thoughts of Rory and everything far away.

She has her best friend, after all, and adventures. Smaller ones, now, but still adventures. ]

[wearafeznow]

[ Holding the door open. ]

There's probably a shop somewhere, some place where you can rent a boat.

[waitedforyears]

Yeah. Let's go. [ Out the door and then to the beach. Sea air helps not focus on the bad things, somehow. It's not quite an adventure, but it's good. ]

[wearafeznow]

[ He waits until they're there to point out a little hut-like shop. ] Look, rentals.

[waitedforyears]

Like you said. [ There's already a bit more of a spring to her step again. ]

[wearafeznow]

When have I ever been wrong? [ And pointing at her. ] Don't answer that.

[waitedforyears]

[ Opening her mouth, then closing it again with a snap and just smirking. ]

[wearafeznow]

[ Twisting as he leads her over to the shop, a slight skip in his step as he goes. ]

So. A boat. We need a boat.
