[And when Jack arrives a half hour later, he's there in his normal attire. He finds Gwen, offering her a bright smile.] I've been imagining you in a swimsuit the whole way here.
[She's already back in her shorts, but the top of the suit is still more than obvious as she leans back to peer up at him from where she's perched in the still warm sand.]
And here I thought you'd be down here in some skimpy thing, or nothing at all.
Oh, I intend to get down to nothing eventually. It would have been like the pied piper if I had treked all the way here without my clothes on though. Would've ruined your beach time, all the spectators.
[He winks at her.] I think I'm the only one of us who enjoys a few spectators now and then.
Shows how much you know, Jack. I have stories I could tell you.
[And then she remembers just who she's talking to. Chuckling, she absently pushes damp hair away from her face before digging in a shorts pocket to see if she has something to tie the wet mess back and out of her way.]
[Jack unbuttons his shirt, peeling it off.] When did you start keeping things from me, Gwen? Here I thought I was the secret keeper. And all this time, it was you.
[He nods at the water.] You gonna get in the water with me?
Back when you were younger and much more reckless than you are now?
[He gives her a 'please' look that she probably doesn't see since she's looking out at the ocean. He's giving her that look even as he peels off the remainder of his clothes and offers her a hand to help her up.]
Oh boy do I know that. I'm probably the king of knowing that.
[To Jack, Gwen is the only person here in the City who gets him. She knows him. She knows how he is. And he gets her too. But he knows that at this point, his penchant for breaking the barrier between another persons personal space and nudity doesn't bother her one bit. They walk hand in hand into the water.] I've heard rumors that there are monsters in this ocean, you know... aside from yours truly.
Tell that to the reflection I've seen in the mirror lately. [He smirks. He's obviously trying to make it sound like a joke, but really it's very much the truth. He's barely been able to look at himself since abandoning Earth after defeating the 456. Sure, he puts on a good show, but he's holding so much inside of him.] Not that I don't look fantastic. I mean I'm obviously handsome in the looks department. I think you'd agree. Just... mirrors.
[Of anyone, she understands the sentiment. For a moment, her hand tightens on his in a show of quiet solidarity, before she turns just as she tugs him closer to wrap her free arm around him. It's an awkward hug, but it's still a honest one.]
[Jack smiles that smile of his that’s just a little bit too bright. The one he uses to cover up anything else underneath. And he full on embraces her in a tight two-armed hug with the water lapping at their knees.] Because we’re both incredibly attractive? Yeah, I’d call that a perfect fit.
[He holds on a bit longer before letting go. Then he’s walking backward away from her into the water. When he’s about waist deep, he falls back and floats on top of the water.] How about you and I just… float away? See where the current takes us.
What would you need to do on a beach in the middle of the night? [ Willingly spending times outdoors doing nothing is a foreign concept to Arthur. He's still in the stage of train, hunt, and make Merlin do all the work. Perhaps there was a secret to fishing that Arthur wasn't aware of... Unlikely, but possible. It was best to look into this. ]
Shouldn't the evening be for sleeping? Although I do admit, a good feast can last just as long. [ AS Gwen might be able to tell, Arthur's heart isn't in the arguing. He's grown used to the idea that a good majority of people in the city don't seem to live by the normal rules. Why would this one be any different? ]
How do you do that-- [ no, wait. Arthur knew perfectly well how one could sleep away the day. Mornings were never one of his favorite things to experience first thing upon waking up. ] Very well. Where is this beach and what will you be doing? [ Perhaps he should bring Merlin along. To forge for the firewood of course. And carry anything that might be necessary, like blankets. ]
Pretty easily. Just close my eyes and boom. Works like a charm.
Doing? I'll be doing whatever sounds like fun at the moment. For now, laying in the sand and enjoying the sounds around me. Hang on... I'll send you a map.
[ Oh no. TECHNOLOGY. Maybe he can remember. Rhodey had been giving him lessons for a while there... ]
Uh, right. A map. That will be quite useful, I'm sure. [ gulp ] Then I suppose I'll be seeing you there.
... Who are you by the way? [ he hates admitting it, but this lack of face to face time really throws him off his groove. Not that he knows what a groove is, but... ]

Does it come with sharks?

No idea. Never been that far out.
