Dear City,

For many months now, my housemates have refused to let me cook. I understand that they have their reasons for doing so but I still feel as if I'm shirking my responsibilities somehow. My housemates usually take turns in cooking; but I have been regularly passed over.

Is there any way I can possibly rectify this? I would like to have the honor of cooking for my friends as well. I enjoy being of service to the people around me.

PS, Today, I saw these mushrooms on sale at the market. I think they might go well with a meat stew I have in mind. It might even give it a lovely color. Has anyone had experience using them?

Brightly colored mushrooms are generally not safe to eat.

The young lady at the stall I saw these at assured me that they were not poisonous.

Maybe you ought to just pay for meals. I can't cook either and that's what I do.

I wouldn't trust her. Try buying some pre-cut mushrooms.

I don't dislike cooking at all and it seems like a waste of money to do otherwise.

It is. I intend to improve my cooking so that my friends will feel at ease when they let me cook.

If I put enough effort in it, I should be able to improve...

I'll have an antidote ready, just in case. I do believe the lady's words on this, however.

Try a bit first then. Then follow some recipe for a dish that includes mushrooms.

I would still like to cook from time to time.
