It's very kind to be invited, but I bathed this morning and I don't think I'm in need of another bath quite yet

Anyway, I'm not entirely accustomed to bathing with others. There are any number of places in my world where one might go to 'take the waters' as the saying goes, but when one does, one is either alone and unclothed or with others and at least somewhat clothed. I think the combination of the two--unclothed and with others--is a bit much for me.

I'll let the rest of the City float about in springs and pools in my place today. By my staying out, I think I shall save room for someone else, since visiting the springs really does seem the done thing today. It must be crowded and one less person trying to get in might make matters easier for everyone else.

When you've had your fill of taking the waters, you may wish to take tea, and so I shall be at the Turnabout Cafe for such a purpose.

I can't help but wonder if something more or worse is going to come of all this. I say that every time there's a mild curse--and this is a curse, you know, no matter what it seems like--but I can't see anything this City does as wholly good or completely benign. There might be sea monsters in all that water, you know.

But perhaps it's being in the City for too long that makes one a bit jaded about these things. Five years is rather a long time.

His Poly!versary was actually May 3^rd but I couldn't post thanks to work he has been keeping to himself because of this rather unsettling anniversary (hence the short post today). Five years! Let's hope for many more ♥ Also, Cain will not be joining you in the hot springs or baths or swimming pools or anywhere else today. Because of his back. (What does that mean? Wouldn't you like to know.)]

She missed a bit, I'm afraid! There was one shirt that didn't have the sleeve attached, and so the youngest of her elder brothers ended up with a wing for an arm, instead.

Well, my favorites are the ones that are made to taste like candies, but I know you're not fond of sweet things, so that might not be as much to your liking as it is to mine. Still, the tenders are wonderfully clever! I'm still not certain how they keep all the names and bottles straight, but it's really quite lovely to watch them work, and I'm sure they could recommend something better than I could.

Yes, that's how it goes. I do remember now. It rather makes me wonder if I'm to leave something so unfinished.

Very likely they've something that will taste of home to me. I'll have to ask them when I stop by. Will you be there as well?

I don't think you will. You're far too careful to miss a shirtsleeve like that--though it wasn't precisely the princess's fault, as I recall, since she was about to be burned at the stake and that was why she didn't quite have time to finish.

Mmhmm, that's where I am right now! Today I'm taking turns watching all the staff to learn a bit about how they do their jobs, so I know at least a little about everyone who works here.

I see. Well then, I'll be sure to find you when I find my way there. It's a wise enough thing to do, by the way. I've certainly tried to learn what I can about the Turnabout Cafe, although I think I had some advantage in having had a hand in establishing the place. Still--I do think it's a good idea you have, to learn a little about what everyone does there.

I'm rather thinking I ought to try my hand at all the jobs, too, at least a little; Edmund used to make drinks sometimes, I know, and I remember Peter and Caspian and Blue all looking after things like that, too. So I think once I've this all sorted out, I'll try to work some of them, too. Not just so I've a better idea of things, but so that I can fill in somewhere in a pinch, if ever I should need to.

That isn't a bad idea at all. I think you could pick up what you'd need to know if you were in a pinch quickly enough.

I think I'd be all right in the kitchen and with taking things to the tables, but I'm not sure how to work the register or how to mix the drinks yet. And I certainly don't know how to spin the bottles around on my hands the way that some of the tenders do; I wonder how much practice it took them to learn to do it without breaking them?

I think you'd do best to learn how to mix the drinks without spinning the bottles around on your hands. At least a first. I think they must have practiced for more than a little while to learn how to do that.

I'm sure they must've. I'll have to remember to ask them if there's some sort of trick to it, or if it's just practice making perfect.
