018 x 810 // video // april showers

[Settled back on her couch, Carla is fussing with a split lip with her tongue absentmindedly and shuffling through a series of photos like it's a hand of cards.]

I've got a Rosella barbecue, a cowboy with a gun in his eye, a few pairs of little boys getting up close and personal with each other, practically autoerotic. And... [She holds up a picture of M. Eames.] On a scale of 1 to 7, where are we going with this?

[She clearly hasn't accounted for all the pictures she was holding, but she puts the rest aside, moving on to another set.]

The rest are mine. [She holds one up briefly.] I haven't seen some of these in over half a decade. [She doesn't sound entirely pleased about that, and sits back again with a frown to look through them.] They've got a date with my garbage disposal.

[As one last distracted note she adds,] I didn't pick up anything of yours this time, Rapahel, I'm disappointed.

//private to 'the lady of lannister'

[She displays the picture she's found.]

Do you want it? Or should I add it to the pile to be disposed of?

[[ooc; Here is what's up for grabs if you want it.]]

A barbecue? Goodness, that must be an old one, we haven't had one of those in ages. Well, er, at the Warehouse, anyway--but the others rather don't count, I would think.
primrosella: (Uhhhh...)

[Oh. Uh. Well, that's--oh.]

...So that one is out and about, then, is it? I suppose I oughtn't be surprised.

That one of mine...it's from the Land of the Clouds. You're right, there's no chance that anyone could've gotten hold of that picture, even if they'd had the means to do it. The only place it could've come from, really, is my memory.

They're not, in some places! That's why one has to be quite careful when walking around up there, since some parts are solid and some parts aren't, and stepping on one of the hollow parts will send one falling right though. There's rather a trick to managing it, though, so it's never been much trouble to get around up there. Er, for me, at least.

Oh, yes. It's a fine place to sit and spend an afternoon, so high up, so long as one is willing to climb all those stairs to get up there.

Or, well, one could always plant a beanstalk, too, but that's a bit more trouble than it's worth!

[Aaaaaand that puts a damper on her reminiscing.]

It came and ravaged our kingdom just before I turned eighteen. And the only... [Pause.] ...well, it wanted a maiden sacrifice, you see, and...

I volunteered.

[Oh, look, Carla, it's another glimpse of serious business Rosella beneath that otherwise cheerful exterior.]
primrosella: (Faraway)

Yes, that's right. So that some other poor girl wouldn't be.

She's not the princess of the kingdom. I suppose that was what made the difference, really.
primrosella: (Musing)

[personal profile] primrosella 2012-04-21 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And...that's why I went. Because that sort of thing...it was my responsibility.
primrosella: (Pondering)

[personal profile] primrosella 2012-04-21 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well...when I was born, I suppose. That's part of what being a princess--or any ruler--means, is that one serves the people and puts them first. I couldn't have done anything less.
primrosella: (Fragile)

[personal profile] primrosella 2012-04-21 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
They didn't have to.

That's not how it is. It wasn't about debts, of loyalty or of anything else. I went because being the princess of a kingdom and a people means doing what's right to protect them, and because someone had to in order to save it, and because I couldn't ask someone else to die for my sake. Because I was raised to believe that having that sort of title comes with a responsibility, and not just a reward.
