[Have a frustrated-looking Sam. All the more strange since it looks like someone's combed and slicked his hair. His mouth twitches when his irritation gets the better of him.]

You know how sometimes in this city, people wake up and start acting strangely, or think they're someone else entirely? [He sighs.] What do you do when they think you're someone else? Because Dean and Donna can play house all they want when I don't have to watch, but now they've decided I'm their six-year-old son and I can't leave without a chaperone. I've kind of outgrown spaghetti-O's and cartoons, too.

If they tell me to clean my room, seriously. I'm not answerable for my actions.

It's okay. Or you know... there's nothing anyone can do. At least I got some more time with them.

[ That's the least that could've been. ] Yeah.

[Sam forces a smile.]

Hey, sorry. We just met, and I'm being depressing. It's okay, it is.

You're not being depressing. I miss my mom, too. And you have your brother, here. [ That was supposed to sound more reassuring. One thought into the other. ] I don't mind listening.

Thanks.

[He smiles.]

Were you close to your mom?

action.

[rehashing]

And my dad. [ And her brother. And aunt. ] My parents died. About a year and a half ago. [ How's that for depressing, Sam? ]

action.

[iwatchtjhooker]

[He puts a hand out to touch her arm.]

I'm sorry.

[rehashing]

It's selfish, isn't it? To want them to somehow... [ end up here. ]

[iwatchtjhooker]

[He pauses, waiting for her to finish, until he realizes he can hear it in the silence.]

No. It's not selfish at all. It's natural.

[rehashing]

Before coming here, my brother decided to move to Denver. [ Or, she'd decided for him. She'd had Damon compel him. It was safe for him that way. ] It's weird knowing I wouldn't have seen him for weeks but I could've talked to him on the phone. I can't talk to anyone.

action.

[iwatchtjhooker]

Yeah. I guess Denver doesn't seem as far, now. But hey. I've heard sometimes people get sent home. Maybe you will.

[rehashing]

Maybe. [ But, her not being home -- that sort of helps. Her family and friends aren't in immediate danger. She's the reason they all were in the first place. ]

action.

[iwatchtjhooker]

If I've learned anything from being here, it's that people are in the same boat. And they want to help. You know, like you being here now. There's no reason for you to care, but here you are. I'm not used to people coming together like this. But I think it means you'll be okay.

[rehashing]

Thanks, Sam. [ she knows she'll be okay. she has to be. but he makes this great point. ]
