[Captain Jack Harkness is standing in the center of the City smack dab in the middle of it all, it all being the Dalek invasion. He's looking every bit the hero, long coat blowing in the slight breeze, a pistol resting lightly at his hip in its holster and a big, complicated rifle looking weapon in his grip. He's grinning a little bit in a cocky, been here and done this before kind of way. And he might even look like he's been having a little bit of fun shooting the metal creatures with the electrical hardware of the rifle so they explode. All in a day's work, really. And anyone is free to run into him out and about in the chaos. He'll definitely do his best to get you to safety and play the hero.

Otherwise, he switches on the audio of his device, too busy and with too many things to do right now for the video.]

Everyone alright? [Mostly he's asking after his people, The Doctors, Torchwood and companions. But deep down he does mean everyone. He hasn't really been in the City long enough to meet all the people yet, although he is working down the list, slowly but surely.] Best to just stay inside and out of the way of them if you don't know what you're doing. For all their bulk they can be sneaky little creatures with a penchant for mass murder. I'd hate to see some of those pretty faces get hurt out there so if you need help, let me know. Besides, rescuing damsels in distress looks good on me. [And by damsels he of course means... anyone or anything.]

That's really all they want? To kill us all? [A pause.] Death by trash can. Wonderful.

[Howl looks slightly wind-blown. His hair isn't in its usual perfectly-coiffed state. But he does seem to be enjoying himself as well.]

I'm assuming by that little display you count yourself among the number who do know what they're doing?

Yeah, they don't seem to like those of us with two legs and no plungers very much. Racism at its worst. You either bow to them or they kill you. And sometimes they kill even when there's bowing.

[Jack arches an amused brow, mostly because when he's displaying anything there's nothing little or small about it. But he does like that this guy seems to be enjoying himself. Plus he has the whole man of action look about him, hair all blowing in the breeze.]

I always know what I'm doing. [Not really but he tries to pretend he does.] You seem to have avoided any run ins with them. So you're either quick on your feet or experienced in Dalek, which is it?

That's too bad. I would have enjoyed sweeping you off your feet just in the nick of time.

[Does watching them on tv as a seven-year-old count as experience? Probably not.]

I'm experienced in ridding myself of troublesome creatures, you could say.

[he'll be ignoring the 'damsel' thing; he just wants to know how to kill it]

And if we want to defend ourselves when they get too close, what will kill it, or at least deter it?

"More like the sound of extermination. Hey! Be careful out there!"

They don't seem to care for the beach. I assume it's less to do with surf&sand and more 'City full of targets'.

Electricity will either slow them down or make them explode, depending on the voltage. Anything electric. Knew electricity was a great invention when it happened.

Best to just stay out of harms way though, if you can. They're ruthless with a side of not caring about anything.

[Exterminates a dumpster to show he can take care of himself.]

[If he's looking carefully, he might spot a young woman hiding in a doorway or in an alcove, looking absolutely terrified. All Rain wanted to do was get to the Library where she thought she'd be safe.]

Electricity. Right. I don't suppose this mad place has some sort of ray gun or whatever you'd call it that would work against them that I could get my hands on?

Sounds like nice company. I'll try and stay out of their way.

I'm going to do my best to stay inside. It's kind of tricky when I have people I'm worried about.

[Have a smirking Gwen with a rather large weapon in her hands. 'Mine is bigger than yours', indeed.]

[Yes, he knows you won't remember him. Eagle has heard of Jack's memory loss. But, to Eagle you are still a friend... just standing out in the open... during the middle of an invasion. ]

But they can be destroyed, can't they? No need to sit on our arses and twiddle our thumbs if there's something that can be done? Because, sorry, mate, I'm not the twiddling sort.

Hoardin' all the damsels, Jack?

Quick on your feet it is, then. [Cause Jack has enough experience with Daleks to know when someone else has had experience too. In fact, he's suffered death by Dalek before... a few times.

He grins.] Which really is a nice quality to have in the event of an invasion... or in the event of other things. [What 'other things' might be, no one but Jack knows. But his eyes do have a flirtatious spark to them for a brief moment before turning serious again.] Electricity will usually fry the creature inside of them. Otherwise they're nearly indestructible.

Why Luke Valentine, were we not in the middle of a Dalek invasion I would most certainly let you sweep me off of my feet, among other things. [Yes, Jack will flirt no matter the imminent danger of a situation.]

And you're right. They do like the smorgasbord of mass destruction they can get here in the City. They aren't big fans of those with two legs to walk on. In fact, they aren't big fans of anyone but themselves. No matter how many times we shut them down they keep coming back thinking we're inferior to them. Kind of racist, really... or specist.

[Jack spots the girl easily enough, mostly because he's looking for damsels in any form and his damsel radar is suddenly on high alert and blaring wildly and loudly in his mind. He hurries over to her, continuously looking back and watching at all angles for any Daleks with his weapon at ready. He keeps his back to the girl and looks out to the streets from the alcove as he speaks.]

Miss, you shouldn't be out here. They'll think you're on the buffet, cute as you are. Need help getting home?

I don't think there's a stockpile the City is supplying, no. Which come to think of it is really in the unfair side of things since this City is what's letting the Daleks in. You'd think they'd –

Nevermind. [Sidetracked. That happens to him sometimes.] You know how to use a weapon and promise not to aim at any humans?

Gonna have to be sneaky about getting to those you need to get to. If the Daleks see you, they'll exterminate you. And they aren't the easiest to outrun.

[But Jack isn't about to tell her not to go check on her people. He would be such a hypocrite if he did. And while he might be a hypocrite in some ways, this was not one of them. He could empathize with wanting to make sure those she cared about were okay.]
