Hello, everyone. As my funds will undoubtedly run out soon, I find myself in need of employment.

[A pause, and the sound of sipping tea.]

I should probably mention that my formally trained skills are mostly in defense and swordsmanship. I wouldn't mind something more simple, though, as I don't have a particular field in mind.

[He sounds as if he's going to stop speaking, but after a moment, he changes his mind.]

Also, I should really start looking for a roommate, as pets are most likely out of the question. My current housing situation is temporary.

[He sounds a bit frustrated at the last - he certainly didn't want to come to this conclusion.]

i thought they were given some to start, but they might have changed the rules since 4 years ago.

Only a small amount, nothing to sustain myself on, from what I understand.

Oh, I think they get a month rent, maybe some other stuff? Nathan's just always depended on others.

Oh, I think there's still plenty use for it. Defense is just one way swordsmanship can be useful, there's also fitness and discipline and the like.

In what way is a sword good for fitness? Do you chase people around? Because I have a feeling you may have a hard time getting paid for mindlessly attacking people.

You don't attack other people, of course. Just running through drills daily can be physically trying. You don't even need a sword with a blade.

Then what's the point in having one?

To keep your body and your mind sharp, and to preserve history and culture. Each person has their own reason, though.

Sounds boring. No wonder you never hear about any cool people having swords anymore.

I guess you could always join the police. They're pretty useless, but they are meant to have that whole defence thing going for them.

Oh, nothing, really. I think they just used to arrest anyone they found remotely annoying.

[Because he's never stolen, vandalised, abused drugs, or done anything illegal ever, obviously.]

Might I ask what your qualifications are?

In my world I held the rank of captain, one of thirteen in our organization. Primarily this comes down to swordsmanship and other complimentary abilities which might be hard to explain. I prefer to use them for defense as opposed to offense.
