[Kazuo can be seen sitting on a rock at the beach. There are waves crashing around him as he looks out over the water.

A moment later, he looks at his device.]

What is to be found at the end of a rainbow?

I considered looking and decided answers would be found more quickly by asking people instead.

If you mean scientifically, nothing. It's just an illusion created by water in the atmosphere and sunlight. In fact, they're rings, and there really is no end.

In legends and stuff, though, I've heard there's supposed to be a pot of gold at the end. Contrary to that, in my country, in ancient times, rainbows were considered ill-luck so people wouldn't go looking for the end.

[That was a quick assessment.]

Yes.... My name is Ken Ichijouji. Are you Japanese as well?

...what year are you from? When...how? Why would the Asian countries come together like that?
oceantrauma: (What?)

But it's 2002 where I'm from, and Japan is still it's own country. I think we're from different worlds. Or maybe different timelines.

...how did things end up that way, though, the Asian countries coming together? [It's very, very hard to imagine.]

Nothing.

A bunch of foolish dreams the weak enjoy deluding themselves with but are actually non-existent.

Most people don't.

But there are always more sheep than wolves, I guess.

[Sigh.]

Not pointless, but it must be tempered with action.
