Which one? I've plenty more under the shirt.

Though not all tattoos need a story, you know.

[waitedforyears]

Well, maybe then you'd better take off that shirt so I can inspect them all. [ A beat. ] So some of them do have a story, then.

[ Eames feigns consideration but then instead simply chooses to roll up the rest of his half sleeve, aiming the device's camera upward to show the one at the back of his right arm. The undead girl is probably the most juvenile of his tattoos, but it's also one of the oldest. ]

A girl I knew years ago.

A girl, huh? What kind of girl was she?

[signatures]

A pain in the arse.

[waitedforyears]

And you put her on your arm. [ Pause. ] Why?

I suppose I liked her well enough at the time and had the money to spare for it.

I suppose there's worse reasons to get a tattoo.

Better than genitalia piercings.

What's your story?

I've no tattoos.

[signatures]

You don't need ink to tell a story.

[waitedforyears]

Well, then. I travel through time and space with an alien. Travelled, I guess.

[signatures]

What's that like?

[waitedforyears]

[ Behold, the first genuinely happy smile of the conversation. ] Oh, it's the best. It's exciting. Never boring, y'know. There's so much out there, aliens and planets and different times and different universes, never gets boring.

I can imagine - with different planets must come entirely different cultures. What has been your favourite experience thus far?

[waitedforyears]

Good one, that. [ Thinking for a moment. ] I think Spaceship UK. It had a space whale, you see. Old and kind and the last of its kind and a space whale and also that was my first real trip, so, yeah.

Or maybe Venice. Venice had alien fish vampires, those were brilliant. [ A beat. ] Trying to kill everyone in Venice, yeah, but brilliant.
