[Derek's been out for his morning jog. It's something he does every morning unless circumstances don't allow it. This is the first time in awhile that circumstances have allowed it and it feels good to be back at it. He's briefly stopped at Cafe Juliet for a few minutes to cool down after his run and grab some coffee. Anyone is free to run into him there.

But while waiting, he turns the video on and offers the network a small grin.] So I'm not gonna ask for a roll call or anything. Youth Center's back to normal. Kids are okay. Teenagers are okay. I'm alright. Hope everyone else is the same.

[His name is called and he's briefly distracted as he picks up his coffee and moves to sit at a table outside on the patio of the cafe. Once he's settled, he speaks up again.] Combat training classes will start up again tomorrow night. For anyone who has questions about that, I'm stamping a file here that you can download.

Otherwise, hope the day started out as good for you as it did for me. [End video feed.]

[The second he notices her, a full smile spreads over his lips. He stands up and moves over to her table.]

Hey, Red. Saving this seat for someone?

Yep. Fortunately, I was saving it for you. [Which is obviously not true since she didn't know he was there, but...]

I'm a lucky, lucky man. Doing good actually. Got a morning jog in which is nice. Haven't done that in awhile with the City turning to sand all over the place. But I usually like to jog every morning. Clears the head, you know?

[Derek adds a small tub of cream to his coffee and three sugars. He contemplates a fourth for a second before deciding three is enough and stirring it all together.]

How are you? You look good.

Was nice to get out into a normal looking City today, not gonna lie. You made it through okay?

As well as can be expected.

It's nice to not have everything break under my hands.

[Hey, Derek was all about doing things that were distracting. And he knew Mercy could use some of the same. So just a little over twenty minutes later, he's jogging to the store and walking inside.]

Mercy? You here?

[Mercy poked her head out of the backroom. She was smudged with dirt and looked more than a little exhausted.]

Just finishing up the last box. Come on back while I wash up a little.

[Derek made his way toward the back, removing his sunglasses so his eyes could adjust to the inside lighting. He had a bag with him, the strap resting cross-ways across his chest. He found Mercy in the back and smiled.]

I don't think I've ever actually been inside this place.

Then I guess it's about time.

[She smiled and gestured around the shop.]

Welcome to Harry's magic shop. I still think of it that way even though he's been gone forever now.

Well, magic isn't really something I have any knowledge of or use for so... I wouldn't know what any of this was about.

[He's inspecting the labels on some of the boxes on the shelves with every bit of skepticism and lack of understanding he feels toward magic. Of course where he's from, magic is only something you see in fantasy flicks on the big screen. So he comes by his lack of knowledge on the subject naturally. He knows magic exists though, that it's possible. You can't be in the City and not know that in some worlds, it's possible.]

It's cool in theory. Interesting. Not anywhere near my kind of thing though. Knowing me I'd do a little hocus pocus and accidentally set something on fire.

Oh trust me, I don't know what 90% of this stuff is, I just run the store. A couple of my employees know about it, so I let them answer any questions.

[She shook her head.]

I guess you could say that even though I am sort of magic, I don't do any.

You were stuck out in the desert too, huh? Not the best jogging weather. It really is nice to be back. ...Not that I jog, but that's neat that it clears your head.

[And burning off the bazillion calories he just added to his coffee, but she's not going to judge.]

Me? Good! I'm good. It might take a few dozen more showers for me to feel like I've got all the desert out of my hair, but I'm doing really well.

I don't think I could do that. It takes you know what to work in an area, much less be in charge of, a place that's all about something you only understand ten percent of.

[He chuckles low and shakes his head. As long as Mercy's happy working here, that's all that matters. He knows he couldn't do it though just because he knows nothing about how it all works. Of course that reminds him of something that he knows Mercy is very adept in.]

Hey, you still working on that Beetle in your garage or do you have it all fixed up by now?
