Oh! Sorry, I was just testing...
It's been a few days since I arrived and I think I've familiarized myself as much as possible with the workings and geography of this place, both high and low! And this device, too. Although it's still kind of strange to be using something like this, with all of these buttons, but I guess it makes communicating over long distances easier for those who don't have any other means of doing so, am I right?
But I've gotten off topic! I actually have an important question for anyone reading this!
You see, when I was exploring, I noticed that there are a lot of people behaving a bit oddly around the city! And I do mean a lot... Normally, if this happened in fewer numbers, I really wouldn't be the least bit surprised, but it kind of seems like everywhere I turn...
...well, the point is, does this kind of thing happen often around here?
Because I wasn't expecting romantic antics until at least the start of February! If people are going to be dispensing chocolates by the boxes, I'm going to need to get to work right away! This place is no Punjam Hy Loo or the Pole, but teeth are teeth! And they need attending!
[ooc: Enter the Tooth Fairy! Text because she's not sure if people would be able to see her or hear her otherwise; replies are welcome in different formats, though!]

[That makes him pause for a moment.]
I will leave a silver case on the table. Small enough to fit in the hand, fairly flat.
no subject
[Because Tooth knows powerful and dangerous things can fit into small cases. But sometimes small cases don't carry such things at all.]
no subject
It... is a cigarette case. I have not seen anyone else here who carries such a thing.

...the case will just be sitting there, right? Unopened?
no subject
Yes.
no subject
That's terrible! You should inform yourself straightaway! Looking after your health is important, you know! Especially your teeth! Because good dental hygiene is essential for overall good health! You wouldn't believe how much your oral health effects the rest of your body!
OH! I'm sorry, I've gotten a bit carried away! Yes, unopened, excellent! I'll meet you there in a jiffy then!
Um...I'll be flying! Look for that.

Never show him Dance Moms]Very well, mademoiselle.
[He shuts the device off and goes there. He gets himself a coffee and sits in an less populated area, his case on the table.]

[Tooth flies closer, then lands, soft and nimble, on the ground. Taking small steps, she approaches Jean-Paul's table hoping he will look up and spare her the awkward scramble to get him to see her. He heard, after all, but shortly after had declared himself a man of mundane beliefs. This could easily go either way.]
...Hello?
[It occurs to Tooth in that moment that she never actually asked this fellow his name.]
no subject
She. Has. Wings. Okay, he thought she had been somewhat less than serious when she stated that she would be flying.
And beyond that... her outfit and headdress. It could be out of a ballet. In fact, it would be quite fitting for some sort of fay creature. If a designer could only find a way to incorporate the wings so that they would not hinder any dancer.
And she was so tiny! Sure, he was short for a dancer, being a few inches shy of the standard. She was altogether something of a sight.]
Hello, mademoiselle Toothiana, I presume?
no subject
[A bit excitedly she takes to the air again, wings fluttering rapidly. She reaches for Jean-Paul's hands and, without much warning, shakes them both vigorously, her smile a mile wide.]
Yes! Tooth for short if you like, I don't mind! It's a pleasure to meet you, and I'm so glad you can see me, because I really wasn't sure this would work but you have to understand, I'd really hoped...
[She pauses, wings slowing so that her toes can once more touch the floor. With a tiny laugh, she releases his hands and tucks her own behind her back.]
...Will you forgive me? In all my excitement I never even got your name!
no subject
Ah, of... of course. [Dieu, she's actually a fairy. An actual fairy. How many other things he's simply discounted over the years as stories have been real?]
It is my fault as well. I often forget my manners using those devices. It seems so unnatural to me to have something like that which connects to those I am unaware of.
I am Jean-Paul Doret.
no subject
[Toothiana glances at the table after a moment, then at the chair opposite the one Jean-Paul had been seated in.]
Well, here we are! I mean, now you know I really am who I say I am...but you must have questions, right? May I sit with you?
no subject
Yes, I do. [He motions to the other chair.] Please do.
no subject
This is nice! I can't say I've ever sat in a cafe with anybody before! Intentionally, that is. With them knowing.
[Her feet barely touch the floor and so, Tooth is rather given to swinging them beneath her chair, back and forth, back and forth...]
Do you come here often?
no subject
Not very often, no. Coffee is not always something I am in the mood for. [He motions to the counter.] Would you like something?
no subject
Tea might be nice, if they serve it here?
[She doesn't mind tea in small doses. Warm, soothing, and not overbearing the way most popular warmer drinks have a tendency of being.]
no subject
[He lets her get her tea how she likes it before speaking.]
So you're the Tooth Fairy. The... only one?
no subject
[Accepting the cup from Jean-Paul, she smiles gratefully and hugs it close, letting the warmth seep between her fingers and the aroma fill her lungs.]
This is splendid...thank you.
[She takes a tiny sip, careful not to burn herself.]
Well, I'm the only me...but I have several helpers. La Petite Souris is one of them, or rather...an entire division that operates in Europe. And I have several small fairies, too.
no subject
So you are, what, the leader of the American division?
no subject
No, not quite. The global division. But my home is in the very far east.
[She takes another sip of tea before setting down her cup gently.]
I know it's hard to accept, but if I'm honest, I'd say you're doing rather well so far. I'm proud of you, Jean-Paul. Whatever makes it difficult for you, you're doing a good job of not letting it completely blind you and I think with enough time...maybe believing won't seem so strange to you.
no subject
He can't imagine being in control of that many divisions, assuming one for each country. Having been a choreographer, he knows just how difficult it can be to make a ballet come together. Between the musician writing for them, the costume designer, the back stage, the dancers... with him at the head trying to bring them together and find willing patrons to give them money.
Well... I suppose if one can accept Lucifer and the idea of a manifestation of Fear, it would be difficult to be completely blind.
[Although he's still not too sure if he believes that Pitch is actually the Boogeyman.]
Where in the east are you from?
no subject
[Orchestrating everything might seem difficult to any outside eye, and it's not easy by any means, even for Tooth, but it comes naturally to her, being busy, being helpful, and especially taking care of children and their memories.]
[She would happily tell Jean-Paul all of these things, but when he brings up a certain manifestation of Fear, Tooth finds her muscles tensing. Warning bells go off inside her mind and her smile droops a little at its edges. She should warn Jean-Paul she thinks...but then, if she does, she would be terminating her agreement with Pitch, breaking their truce, the very one that might protect more people than she can on her own right now.]
I...far east. [Tooth answers, saying nothing of Lucifer and the Boogeyman. And, realizing she hasn't quite answered his question, Tooth adds:] A special city called Punjam Hy Loo. I don't expect you to have heard of it before.
