Oh! Sorry, I was just testing...
It's been a few days since I arrived and I think I've familiarized myself as much as possible with the workings and geography of this place, both high and low! And this device, too. Although it's still kind of strange to be using something like this, with all of these buttons, but I guess it makes communicating over long distances easier for those who don't have any other means of doing so, am I right?
But I've gotten off topic! I actually have an important question for anyone reading this!
You see, when I was exploring, I noticed that there are a lot of people behaving a bit oddly around the city! And I do mean a lot... Normally, if this happened in fewer numbers, I really wouldn't be the least bit surprised, but it kind of seems like everywhere I turn...
...well, the point is, does this kind of thing happen often around here?
Because I wasn't expecting romantic antics until at least the start of February! If people are going to be dispensing chocolates by the boxes, I'm going to need to get to work right away! This place is no Punjam Hy Loo or the Pole, but teeth are teeth! And they need attending!
[ooc: Enter the Tooth Fairy! Text because she's not sure if people would be able to see her or hear her otherwise; replies are welcome in different formats, though!]

When I arrived I was a bit damper than I like being, but I understand that's something that happens around here? Nothing bruised or broken, in any case! So...what causes these curses?
video;
Often enough. I've never fallen in. Gone swimming in it once, though.
[She may have been tipsy.]
As for the curses—well, magic, of course. If you believe in it, anyway. But I reckon that's what makes the most sense to me; how else could any of this be possible, right?
text;
[Being suddenly wet and chilled isn't her idea of comfort, but she can think of worse ways to arrive some place, has even experienced one or two of them, so landing in a fountain definitely isn't so bad.]
Magic, yes, that makes sense, and I do believe in it, very much! But I meant more...well, is it naturally occurring magic? Or is someone responsible?
video;
No one's really sure. If there are answers, I've not heard them. I thought for ages it was the deities' fault, but... they've been gone a few months, now, and we've still got the curses happening. So maybe it's the City itself, but that's not a charming thought, either.
[Ginny exhales.]
If it's in the nature of this place to do all that, then what d'you do next? That's what the new people in charge are trying to suss out, I think.
text;
Who are the people in charge? It sounds like they're starting with the right question, at least!
video;
[Who she thinks she trusts but won't ever say it because no one trusted the deities and some find these people the next worst thing.]
And I'm Ginny, by the way. Ginny Weasley.
text;
[Tooth doesn't trust higher powers very easily, so having the opinion of another person is something she considers to be very valuable. If nothing else, it offers her a basis for comparison. Or it will...if she ever meets these Anonymous herself.]
A pleasure, Ginny—you have a very lovely smile! My name is Toothiana.
voice;
[She doesn't trust authority too deeply, not after everything that's happened in her world. So it's a cautious thing, but it's still something. Then Ginny reads the next bit and her smile brightens and she might even be blushing just a bit.]
Thank you very much! Toothiana? That's lovely.
text;
[For example: the Man in the Moon. The Guardians didn't start out believing he knew best, it took being introduced to him first and foremost, and from there, well...trust in his reputation. While the Anonymous might not have a reputation to support them, they do still have something in common with MiM, and that's...the fact that they've never done anything deserving of fear or loathing. At least, that's how Ginny makes it sound.]
Thank you! So...have you been here long, Ginny?
video;
[She doesn't really know how to explain the Anonymous Movement. She thinks they're doing what's in the best interests of the City but it backfires and sometimes she wonders if they're purposely trying things that won't work or if it's really good. She wants to go home (don't they all?) but there are they days she realises she doesn't hate being stuck.
It's hard.
Her smile falters briefly at the question and she shrugs, exhaling, beyond lying about this to make people feel better.]
Five years since last week. I know that's not comforting to hear when you arrive.
text;
I'm so sorry, Ginny. I've only just arrived and I know we don't know one another very well... [Not to mention she isn't entirely sure Ginny can see or hear her, yet.] ...but if there is anything that I can do, please let me know?
video;
That's very kind of you, thanks. And you as well—any questions or anything, you can ask. I mean... [She laughs, a sigh.] Been here a bit. I don't know everything, but enough to help, maybe.
text;
video;
[Oops, she's reflecting her mother again.]
Toothiana, honestly, you ought to have... Alright, there's the Welcome Centre, but you can help yourself to any of the flats out here. Empty ones, you know? And there's the ticking, too, but pets or roommates help with that, company helps. D'you want help finding one?
text;
[She fidgets unseen where she is, letting out an airy sight. Having no idea what the ticking is, she makes the logical assumption that it has something to do with the noises she thought she kept hearing, and with being alone if pets or company are what help alleviate it. Maybe that's what finally drove her to try her communicator? To reach out and ask questions?]
I had no idea there were so many options! I really don't know where to begin...would you recommend one over the other?
video;
You like being outside? [She smiles,] Me too. Best place to think.
text;
[It's walls, you see. She doesn't like walls and tight spaces. If she has to be indoors, Toothiana likes very, very tall ceilings, the kind that are vaulted, and she prefers lofts and plenty of open air, things up high to perch on...]
I might just need to look and see if I can find a comfortable fit. Something with a lot of windows, maybe...ah! Yes, and that's why! Because I love the outdoors, and it really is a wonderful place to think, isn't it? I spend so much time in the open air that the idea of being away from it for any period of time seems a little...you know.
[Suffocating.]
video;
Have you ever gone flying?
text;
video;
Right, guess that means I don't have to teach you! I was going to say... [Shaking her head.] It's just, that's what I do when I need some air, if my flat's too much or people or my own head. You've already found Xanadu, but if you'd like a change of scenery, there's a beach beyond the forest. It's beautiful at night.
text;
I don't get to fly freely with many others besides my fairies and...well, a friend of mine, Jack. It'd be really nice to be able to go with someone, to fly with company!
video;
[It'll be nice to go flying with someone who's clearly experienced in it. She loves teaching her friends how to use broomsticks, but it means she can't race people through the air, do tricks, go too fast as they get used to it. Then she reads the next bit and her smile broadens.]
Fairies? Merlin's beard, it's been so long since I've seen them. Then again, the last time I was home— [Was the war.] —well, not the right occasion. Your fairies, you said?
text;
[And she's excited for the same reasons that Ginny is. When it comes to flying, only Jack can keep up with her, and even then she was built for speed! Getting to stretch her wings will feel absolutely glorious, especially in the presence of another who can appreciate...]
[Wait, wait, she's getting ahead of herself. This whole time she's been writing her replies to Ginny. Maybe she should try something else, otherwise flying with her to the beach might be a complete disaster.]
Yes...my fairies. They're very gentle, I promise. But Ginny? If it would be alright...I want to try something. Do you mind if I try switching to video?
video;
Yeah, of course. Everything alright?
