The goat! The goat is the only thing that makes no sense. Electromagnetic fluctuations, yes, that makes sense, anything that enters or exits this dimension would create a detectable distortion, okay--this explains your bad witches. But I was confused by the goat, and so I researched its possible relevance.

Goats have nothing to do with physics--that is ridiculous, of course--but they have significant symbolic importance in the Christian religion and are typically associated with personifications of evil or the damned. Medieval documents describe witches using goats for various rituals, and a goat head features in twentieth-century Satanic imagery, so maybe this goat is a focal point of whatever power these bad witches are exerting.

I would not rule out the possibility that the goat is a singularity, given the strange things that have happened here before. Maybe the goat is some kind of matter-antimatter device, giving these bad witches near-infinite energy, or maybe it focuses their magic in some way. I am a scientist, not an occultist; these are the best guesses that I have.
