You see, I have a cause. It is obscenity.

I'm for it.

Now, us civil liberties types who are fighting for this cause, owing to the nature of the laws, have to fight it as a matter of freedom of speech and stifling of free expression and so on, but we know what's really involved: dirty books are fun, and that's all there is to it.

But you can't get up in the court and say that, I suppose. It's simply a matter of freedom of pleasure--a right which is not guaranteed by the Constitution, unfortunately. Anyway...

I'll claim freedom of speech.

Yeah, I know, freedom of speech means everybody else gets to talk too, all that stuff. But I can't be arrested for my reading material. Shunned by the community? Sure. But jail? Not a chance.

It's about two young revolutionaries, possibly anarchists, in a post-apocalyptic world where martial law is the only law. Naturally, they fall in love. I'm still working out some details, of course.
