Fuck, that'd be a thing to watch. Wouldn't be fair, though. Not really.

[He shakes his head, a glance off to the side. Fuck. Roman's such a mess and he wants it and that's so fucked up.]

Who do you think'd win?

Roman. Trust me, it's not a fair fight.

[He kicks his heel at some leaves. It's a good part of why he really shouldn't like him. Everyone warned him and he still just can't help himself.]

[ Spinning the beer bottle between his fingers. ]

[He pauses, thinks this over, just how bad an idea this is. He takes another drink and sighs.]

He's not a werewolf.

[Which means yes.]

Okay.

[ A pause. ] If it's a big deal and you join the pack, Derek'll probably want to know.

I guess I'm in the pack now. That's what Derek said, anyway.

[He takes a long drink, taps fingers against the bottle.]

Well, so... what counts as a big deal?

[There's probably a slight vibe of not being exactly forthcoming, here. It's just such a huge fucking blood-stained mess.]

Well, Jackson was a lizard monster who tried to kill us all. And Lydia's something but you know that because she just went and announced it to everyone.

[ A sigh. ] Just. He's probably going to want to know either way. And if you're pack he'll expect you to tell him.

What Roman is... It's bad. Really fucking bad.

But he doesn't know what he is, he's not that dangerous as he is now. And I just don't want it to be some big thing, where it's everyone's fucking business, and then all of a sudden I lose him. And he's not... He's not even Roman anymore.

[He looks at Stiles, a little wide-eyed. He's not being deceptive, he's just trying to protect his friend.]

[ Derek would charge in. Scott would try to talk to Roman. Stiles --? He's impartial. ]

Okay, then tell me. [ He sits up, bends his knees as he crosses his legs. ] And I make the call on whether or not Derek needs to know. And when. And I won't tell Roman or anyone else unless it's a matter of life and death, yeah?

He's an upir. They're.. kind of like vampires, but they don't sparkle.

[He takes a really long drink, runs a hand through his hair, because fuck, man. He doesn't want this to go bad. He doesn't want angry werewolves, but he can't lose Roman again.]

He's got roofie eyes. He can control people.

[He frowns at the empty bottle.]

And they get worse. Upir are strong, fast, they regenerate. They have an overwhelming bloodlust and they're cold. They are fucking heartless monsters and there'd be nothing of him left.

And I don't want him turning into that. Fuck, Stiles.

[ Stiles listens and he feels something go tight and unhappy in his stomach. He can hear the panic in his voice and he thinks about how hard he tried to keep Scott's secret even after he tried to kill him.

He gets it. ]

If he knows, does the ... thing, does it get more power? Is that why we're not telling him?

[He shrugs his shoulders, sighs as he taps the empty bottle against his knee.]

It's already pretty scary. But, the thing is? As he is now, I've never seen him do anything that bad with it without a reason.

[There was That One Time, but Peter couldn't blame Roman for saving him, now could he?]

He wants to be a good person. He has this bullshit fucking heroism thing where he somehow thinks we're obligated to- I dunno. Hunt monsters and save people and all this comic book shit. He's a better person than I am.

[He grabs another beer and offers one to Stiles. So not drunk enough for this conversation.]

I just want him to be able to keep that.

[ He takes another beer and unscrews it, fingers picking at the label before he takes a deep gulp. ]

Is there anything we can do to keep him him? Or is he gonna blow at any moment and we're just watching the countdown?

I don't know. I mean, at least half of what I know about upir is based off stories my uncle told me and there's no telling how much of it's real and how much is bullshit, you know?

[He sighs, takes a long drink as he thinks it over.]

I think we can keep him him. But, shit. Half of it might be that I don't want to lose him. I just think that if I can keep him away from all this shit that maybe he'll be okay.

Destiny always told me to never forget what he is, and I think sometimes I do.

Scott tried to kill me once. [ He shrugs, then pauses. ] And I was pretty pissed at him. But that didn't mean I wanted to sell him out to the hunters.

[ All of this sounds dangerous, but maybe Stiles should make decisions for himself now. ] Don't tell Derek. His track record of shit that he doesn't understand is pretty abysmal. I don't know if I'd tell Scott either.

He's never actually tried to kill me. [He threatened it once, but that was a whole different issue that didn't need mentioning.] And Hunters are fucking terrifying. Roman tried to save me from one, once.

[He sighs, takes another drink.]

I mean, if it gets bad, I'll talk to Derek about it. But for now, I just want to let him be. Things are better here.

Yeah, if it gets bad. And hey, I'll come with if you want.

[ Because Derek can be scary. ]

You can if you want, though I don't think I'll need moral support or anything. I mean, Derek seems pretty nice.

[He really does not understand why everyone thinks he's scary. Scott's so-I-hear-you're-a-werewolf talk put him more on edge than Derek did.]

[Peter looks genuinely surprised by this revelation. His head tilts, and he looks at Stiles as if trying to gauge if he's being serious.]

Does he turns into some flesh-eating horror or something? He's been.. pretty decent to me. He was the one that mentioned joining the pack.

[He says it casually. He's shit with people, but he doesn't want to come off as too in favor of the guy that Stiles is upset with. But, still.]

He's mad at me because I was looking up knotting. And he's kind of a constant jerk.

[ He shrugs. ] A good jerk, but a jerk anyway.

I'm a jerk and you put up with me.

[Peter's brand of jerkdom is admittedly pretty mild, unless you're Roman. Unless he's always one foot out the door and then trying to run.]

He's easy to talk to.
