I've been living in the modern - current? - time for the past two years, and I finally decided that I need someone to explain something to me.

Why does television that isn't shows about cooking have so many ladies who wear....not very much? Is that something that people in the future like to watch?

Because it just seems disrespectful to me.

Wouldn't people get bored of listening to other people talk about food? It sounds sort of boring...and it'd just make you hungry, right? How would they keep people's attention?

The objectification of women and the idea of rape culture are hotly debated topics at this time in the world, but really your question opens up whole doors to the nature of feminism and the differences in the wave of each of its movements.

It's kind of an awful thing--the way women're shown on television, I mean. I'm all for everyone expressing themselves in any way they want, but it gets skeevy when women lose their agency and just become subjects in a commercial or whatever. It can be dehumanizing, you know?
