Now that I'm relatively calmed down from showing up here -- not entirely calmed down, because really, this is the kind of place that takes at least a couple weeks to get used to -- I'm starting to realize that I need a job. As much as I was hoping this place was some kind of alternate dimension utopia where we didn't have to work, I'm pretty sure that being able to buy food and pay rent is one of those necessary things in every dimension.

If you're hiring, let me know.

[A pause, and then...]

And as an entirely unrelated to finding me employment question, what're your opinions on blind dates? Good idea? Bad idea? Hilarious idea?

They're when someone sets you up with someone else because they think you'd be cute together. Or because they think you're so pathetic that you can't find a date on your own. Or because they have some weird proclivity for controlling what you do with your life.

So does that mean that if someone set you up on a blind date, you'd go along with it? I mean, can you ever really be sure of someone's intentions? Does it look desperate to do that sort of thing, like you can't manage your own romantic life? There're so many potential layers of meaning, here.

Things are complicated right now. Even though I'm not with anyone -- I think I like people. So, it wouldn't be fair to them. Even if nothing's defined.

Why do I keep hearing about this, ever since I've been here? People liking people and not knowing what to do about it, people trying to figure out which of the many people they like that they should actually be with... are all alternate dimensions this full of relationship angst?

Hypothetically, I mean. I don't actually expect you to know the answer to that question.
