[ The feed clicks on to show Jim in a garage leaning against the open hood of a car, a dark-haired woman wrapped in his arms. Chinning her shoulder, he leans over to press fond, familiar kisses over her jaw and cheek, wherever he can reach. The good humor of his chuckles is echoed as the screen wobbles. ]

Is this thing on? [ The nuzzle to her neck is playful, as punishments go, for distracting him. Hi, City. ] Hey, this is Saya. We're, uh ... We're together. Bones, Spock, I want you to meet her tonight at dinner.

[She tips her head, every time he goes for a kiss, to try and catch his mouth, but the truth is she's not trying hard, because she's enjoying the attention. Anyone who knows her, who's seen with, and even who's slept with her knows that this isn't typical behavior.

But then she turns her attention on the camera, because Jim said something and it actually did cut through the haze of the honeymoon.]

It won't take long, I don't think. If that's a concern.

It's not a concern, don't worry! They're nice guys. [ Jim, too, appears a little more smitten than he's been with anyone or anything since he was commissioned for his ship. He squeezes his arms around her waist. ] You can stay as long as you want.

[There's a pause, and the corners of her lips curl up in a smile that is more real than her usual one.]

So dinner - and we'll see how it goes from there.

[She takes a moment, and finally catches Jim's mouth, and there's a kiss, as she reaches over and turns the feed off.]

What isn't she a genius in? Chemistry. Math. Archaic Latin.

The handful of people in this city who speak Latin are going to be able to talk behind all our backs.

We should break into pig latin. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

I'd rather just learn the Latin and toss it into their conversations when they least expect it.

[ Because y'know, he could. ]

But that's a lot of effort and I really don't care enough, sadly.

How hard is it to learn Latin?

[ He's guessing it's really difficult. ]

Nothing wrong with a little effort. [ Something he learned over the summer! ] Sometimes, effort's really worth it!

Piece of cake. [ Whoa, hi enthusiasm. Calm down there, sparky. ] Yeah, it is.

Hm. We could. Stiles and me were going to keep studying for the PSATs. [ Though, he's pretty sure Latin isn't involved. ] Head to the library a few times a week. Just in case we ever get back. Maybe he'll want to learn Latin. [ Latin could be cool. ]

So, what's she like?

Don't go to the library. That's where Harrison works, he knows you're friends with me.

He works at the library, now? [ He just... can't go? That's inconvenient. ] Has he done anything since getting here? [ Besides seeking employment. ]

Only winding up my people. [ And Jim's working on building everyone a working phaser to wear out in the town. ] I don't think you should take the chance of him using you against me.

[affectioning]

You think he'd do that? [ He could try. How would he even? They're not that close. Just friends. Awesome friends, but friends, nonetheless. ] Stiles and I will stay out of the library. [ But, somebody has to go in and get them study materials. ] Is he threatening your crew? Or, taunting them?

He threatened to destroy my ship and would have done it. He fired on us and the Enterprise was sent careening back to Earth. He'll break your legs just to make me come to heel, Scott, that's not even an exaggeration.

He'd try. [ But he gets it. ] I said we'll stay away. We will. Okay?

Okay. Good. You guys need any books, I'll order them through the labs, how's that sound?

There's an SAT Vocabulary one we wanted. Can you get that one? [ It sounds fine. ] Hey, do you think you could get Lydia an in at the labs?

I can do my best. Send me a list. [ Hm, Lydia. ] She can hold her own in a conversation with Spock, I'd be surprised if I couldn't get her in.

Just check? I don't know if she wants to work but maybe if what she does doesn't feel like working...
